Hey what do you guys think about multiple sub setups like having 10 8inch subs vs having like 2 12's or 15's.......lemme know what you think

There's a place for such ideas, depending on what you wish to accomplish. However, with that number of low frequency drivers used, getting good impedence matching to amps and minimizing cancellations require some careful planning.

I can see using a set of eight, 8", 8 ohm woofers and a 2 channel amp. A bank of four, 8 ohm woofers will net 2 ohms per channel. That's a good option for most 2 channel amps.

Each woofer will need about 0.3 - 0.5 cf of airspace too, depending on the woofers used and the style of enclosure used.

FYI: A pair of 8's, will have close to the same cone area as a single 12" woofer. The other concern is how low the sub can go and still manage decent low bass output and good power handling. A low budget 8" might have an Fs of about 60 Hz. (and up) If you want a lot of deep lows, quality drivers with an Fs of ~35 Hz., can get pretty expensive.

An array of these might do a pretty good job at a reasonable price too:

Say more about your idea OK?

8's can be pretty impressive IMO. Finding the right ones can be fustrating at times, because they are the "black sheep" of the subwoofer world.

You will have to do hard research for ones that will suffice for a particular project. There are some nice ones out there with good capabilities, but they are often overlooked because of their specs.

With 8's (my favorites!) it's more possible to choose a vast array of designs without sacrificing space as well as sound quality. You just have to be able to think out of the box in terms of what can actually be acheived as compared to what would normally be a hindrance with larger subs.

I'll leave a quote by a very popular and quite expensive company whose name I'll leave out at this time:

"Sometimes it is better to have a bunch of mighty midgets than to have a single giant".

AW831T
8” NATURAL SOUND WOOFER
30 oz. Strontium Magnet
Power Handling: 200 watts RMS
Frequency Response: 30Hz - 1kHz
Efficiency: 90.3 dB

How about 4 of these subs?
I could series two sets of parallel wired subs for 2 ohms.

Ash has done a good deal of experimentation with small format subs and Midbass drivers of late. Let's see his comments and findings to date.

Harvester, had to chuckle at your quote... It is true that a small army of well placed soldiers can do much better job than 1 giant ever could.
A strategically planned array of small woofers can really bring out some serious bass. This takes careful evaluation of a given subwoofer, acoutical couplings of the listening space and good time alignments of all woofers used.

As our old buddy says... Less is often more, (SPL)
