We are soon to start our last quarter fund raising campaign at CK. As many know, this site is run by the donations from our readers and fellow Golds. In order to serve our present and future visitors, we do periodic fund raising campaigns to keep the site operations fund in the black ink. (Yeah, just like Public Radio... with a twist)
All funds are managed by the site owner, (Walter Hargrave) and are used to pay for server time, site upgrades and tools needed by Admins to keep everything running as well as it does now.
Some may not know this, but CK shut down for several months a while back, due to lack of operating funds. This left a big gap for the regulars and new commer's had to go elsewhere too. We want to avoid that scenario again right?
OK, here's the general guidlines:
1. If asking for help and it's just a few posts, forget the donation as you are our guest... keep your pocket change and enjoy the site.
2. If asking for detailed information and you get several helpful and money saving tips, drop a few coins in the donation box. (Seriously... is $5.00 gonna break the budget?)
3. If a heavy user of this site, its resources and numerous posts that require lots of details, great! That's why we are here. Considering all the time and $$$ the big DIY'ers are saving as they learn. Pony up and invest some of that savings, back into CK's kitty. (If a guy saves a few hundred bucks and does the work as we guide, this deserves a reasonable donation... don't be a "Dine & Dasher" here OK? (Is $20 bucks gonna break the bank?)
Hey, we know this is an expensive hobby. There will be times when we get pretty tight on cash, after an expensive install. OK, we understand that. But like anything in life... "If we wanna play, we gotta pay the entry fee". If that means a few small donations now and again, fine and dandy. However, be a good consumer and willing to support those who donate their time and knowledge to help you and others that come later.
As an added perk, you will be listed on the donation log in our site, get public recognition of your participation with a Gold Star, a personal THANK YOU from Walter and any banner ads will be removed from your view. How's that for a good return on a minimal donation? Not bad eh?
Finally, CK accepts Paypal, Money Orders, personal checks or cash donations. For the latter 3 payment methods, contact Walt or myself and we'll work out a plan. I'd like to ask Walter to set up a PO Box for these donation methods, but only if it does not cost more than we take in. (Makes sense huh?)

PS We are a little behind on adding recent donations and expenses to the ledger. Don't panic... Walter's been pretty busy on other programs of late. He'll get a round TUIT sooner or later. I just have to remind (put a bug in his ear) once in a while. CLAP

Thank you to all that have responded and those who are planning to help out the site. As noted below, our operational funds are getting very low now and this is an urgent matter to address, before we hit Red numbers.
This is a great site and many have benefited this year form using the talent and tools we provide at CK. It's free to all users, but there are costs associated with this site that cannot be absorbed soley by Admins, Golds and a few generous donations. If one benefits from site use and wants this place around next spring, now is the time to take action. If we go into the red ink too long, this site may have to close again.
OK gents, this site's future is in your hands now... if many do just a little, we can manage. Again, thanks to all who have donated so far and we certainly appreciate those who dig into the coin jar in the near term.
