2000 Suburban Amp wiring

I wish to install a 1600 wt amp under the second row of the truck. I was thinking of running the pos wire under the door jambs (i assume they just snap off, no screws). and running the RCA's and remote cables under the carpet and under the center console to the radio. Does all of this sound like a good idea. Two 15's will be behind the third row in a bandpass box. thanks for your help

Your electrical plan is solid and will work fine. Just make sure you have a bare metal ground for your sub amp and the proper gage wire for the main power feed/ground lines.

Do you have the subs and BP box already?
What amp are you using here as well? (make and model)

I agree, sounds like a go. Getting the rca's down the middle will be a tad difficult, but can be done.

Good, I'm on the right track. It's been about ten years since my last install, been letting the pros do it. Any way i already have the subs the Audiobahn ABP15 bandpass box with two 15's. The amp is a 1600 watt 2 channel Pyramid PB1281X, which is 2 ohm stable. I'm using 4 guage wire for the power and ground. The box puts out 1000 watts RMS (500 each), and are 4 ohms. What would the best way be to wire the box? should i just have one channel per speaker? And how hard is it to take the door sill or deck plate off?

Cannot determine the real power (RMS) output for this amp mentioned. Do you have the fuse count numbers here?

With that , can help you determine the proper gage wire... but #4 sounds like it will be sufficent.

As for wiring the subs to amp, if the BP box is 4 ohms total, then bridge the amp and run same in MONO. This is the safest way to get maximum power from the amp w/o overtaxing the amp.

As for the other questions on trim removal, lets see what ttocs has to say.

I just discovered that the amp i purchased puts out 75 watts rms per channel at 4 ohms, and 120 watts rms at 2 ohms. Is this enough to push two subs that handle 500 rms each? The amp is 1600 watts max.
