I have a pioneer p77dh cd player installed in my truck. It has 3 sets of line level outputs (RCA Jacks) but I am only using one 2 sets. Everything thing was working fine until I took out my old amp for my mids and highs and installed a new amp. Now when I turn the cd player on the new amp goes into "protect". The new amp is a hifonics zeus 4400. The manual for the new amp says "if you can unplug the rca jacks and the "protect" light goes out then you have a bad source or bad rca wires." I replaced the wires with new ones and I still have the problem. When they say bad source i guess they are referring to my cd player??? This HU has 3 pairs of RCA outs: (4.0 volts per set) 1. Front channel pair 2. Rear channel pair 3. Sub out pair Have you identified which of the three is not working? If yes, try them on a known good amp and see if you are getting (not getting audio signals) from a given pair. FYI: When doing this type of work, it is wise not to have the HU turned on while working. If we inadvertantly short circuit the RCA make pins to amp grounds, (Amp casing is ground) it can damage the HU preamps. That often leads to an immediate trip to the repair shop to fix a blown RCA amp board. Comments? swez ttocs on 10/9/2006 18:08:19 try a different source such as a mp3 player with a headphone to rca jack. swez on 10/10/2006 17:00:32 Good reminder ttocs, as I forgot to mention that one...
