Zeb is a good place to get discount products... but there are others too. Depends on what you want. Say more on what you are shooting at and subs planned... we'll go from there OK? Swez PS How much current does this amp draw at rated ohms load you are planning? You may have a power management issue, depending on the subs used and how they are wired. This amp is a monster SPL machine and may draw a huge amount of current is you run this amp at 1 ohm loads. ckoscin2 on 03/31/2003 15:36:55 i want to run my four 12 inch diamond audio sub's. i have two m6's and two m3's ? i asked everyone if i could run the four together and they all say something different because of the m6 and m3 ? i know about the current draw and i will have to up grade my alt. and some other things. anything i left out ? thanks for the help Swez on 03/31/2003 18:00:08 Am not that familiar with Diamond Audio subs... but if all are the same voice coil impedence, should be able to run them all off this amp, (MONO) as long as you don't run below the recommended ohms rating. Since this is a 2 channel amp, you might want to consider wiring the M6's to one channel and the M3's to the other channel. This way, if there are any major differences in power handling or impedence matching issues, each channel can be employed to meet the needs of each woofer set. Think of this amp a 2 large MONO amps in one case and dual independent inputs, gain controls, LP filters and output stages. If you really want to have some fun, set up your beefiest subs for very low end bass... 30-60 Hz "Thunder". The lesser subs can filtered to say 100-120Hz for more midbass punch. A little experimentation could net some very interesting results. Swez ckoscin2 on 03/31/2003 18:47:47 the amp is rated at 1200w x 2 @ 1 ohm. all dual 4 ohm subs. so i could do that. how would i set them up for 30-60 hz and the other two for 100-120 hz ? Swez on 04/1/2003 05:10:32 Since this is a 2 channel amp, I assume you have HP/LP filters on each channel. Is that a correct assumption? If yes, set your "thunder" channel LPF at 60 Hz. This will roll off any frequencies above 60 Hz rapidly to keep that thunder. On your other channel, set your LP in the 100-120 Hz range and get an inline HP (subsonic filter) to block the deep lows for that channel. Harrison Labs makes a nice, compact set of inline modules (FMods) that allow you to prefilter the amp at input stage. This is your "punch" channel. Here's a link: http://www.thezeb.com/caraudio/harrision_labs.html The FMod you choose will determine the cutoff frequency feeding that channel. Here are the options available from HL. I would recommend the 50Hz version for your application. They come in pairs, so you'll have a spare, but since the price is cheap, not a big deal. If you call Zeb, Crutchfield or Harrison Labs direct, you may get lucky and only buy 1. Cannot hurt to ask.... ZEB product reference numbers: 900074 50hz Hi-Pass FMOD (pair) $ 33 $ 28.99 900075 70hz Hi-Pass FMOD (pair) $ 33 $ 28.99 Sound like a reasonable plan? Swez |
