1997 Range Rover

Can someone give me the wire colors for a HU install on a 1997 Land Rover Range rover?

I'd also like IGN, ACC, and 2nd ACC and the location of them if possible.

Dude forgot to pick up the harness, so I gotta hardwire, and I don't have techsoft at home.

Thanks for the help!

rovers are pretty easy to figure out once you get the deck out. You need to check for common grounds between the speakers. Unfortunatly my old omega books do not cover them to give you something to start with.

Get out your VOM and start probing for Constant, IGN, ACC, ANT/REM and ground. You know, the old fashion way... LOL

As for speaker outs, that should be pretty easy if they are paired like most vehicles. Just use the Ohmeter to determine the wires for each location. (Listen for the Snap-Crackle-Pop) hehe

Turns out since he's installing a 4 channel, the speaker leads arent' going to matter. Since the vehicle is factory amplified, I'm just going to run new wires to each door for the speakers.

It's kinda amusing though... I was searching around online and no one makes a kit or harness for that year range rover. I called crutchfield, and I have to custom front mount it too... a total pain.

why don't you follow your own advise and catch all the speakers at the factory amp?? running wire through rovers is generally a PITA, i've ran through doors before and it was NOT fun. took forever.

we've got a harness for a 1997 range rover at my shop. it looks like a 1990-up volkswagen harness, just pinned differently.

as far as the kit goes, real easy solution. the radio will DIN mount no problem. just trace a copy of the factory head unit cover onto some ABS plastic. heat it up, bend it into shape, cut DIN hole in it, and frontload the deck. very simple and very fast solution that looks good, too.

plenty of room in back left quarterpanel to mount multiple amps, too.

we have a deal with the local rover dealership that is around the corner and do alot of them. We integrate a backup camera and alpine dvd player to go into the factory video system. I would have to agree with uk that I would hit them at the speaker.

Also, be VERY VERY carefull taking it apart as they do not like to go back together correctly or easily. The fit and finish on even the newer ones is not all that great.......

I noticed that... =)

Got all the wire run the other night, took way longer than it should have. But overall. I think the owner is more of a PITA than the car =)

Do you happen to know the wire colors for each speaker coming out of the factory amp? That'd save me some hassle... and where is it located.

I havn't gotten to that part yet. The guy was supposed to drop it off on sunday morning, but he didn't get here till 8pm, so I didn't get much done. I'm supposed to finish it thursday, my day off. Any more advice would be greatly appreciated, I'd really like to spend as little of my day off working on this as possible.

Thanks again!

Willie

as for wire colore other then gm and some ford I do not have any committed to memory. Test all the wires for power first and then get busy with the battery.........
