Hey my friend wants to hook up an amp to his factory unit, he has a 2002 ford mustang and he wants to keep the four speakers that came with the unit plugged in and wants an amp to power his kick 12" I am not sure if there is a way to get a line converter and keep his speakers running off the unit? is there anything I can suggest to him?

yip. you can get a line out converter that converts speaker level to line level which will produce RCA's to plug into your amp.

first, find out if he has the "mach" system or not. if he does, it's a little more complex than if he doesn't, because you have to catch the signal at the factory subwoofer instead of behind the radio where most people usually catch the signal. if he doesn't, just tap in at the factory radio, or you can tap in at the rear speakers if you want a little shorter run. it's easier to get two channels from the behind the radio if you ever want to add more woofers.

have fun. real easy car to work on. convertibles are a little hard to run wires through, but doable nonetheless.

Hey thanks man, I wasn't sure the best way to go at it,I know what your talking about, he does not have a mach system I know for a fact. It is a hard top I might help him run the wires sunday but i told him to have everything so I will tell him to pick up a converter and we'll get to it.
