Howdy, I got some new wheels and was wondering what i should do to them. Available Geer 1 usa acoustics amp model 2200, currently running 2 polk audio 6x9's (mmc690) sound real good in blazer but i dont have high level inputs to this amp. Also, 10"alpine type R with 380 watts rms from a pioneer amp, which does have high level inputs available, SoI geuss i am asking, how do i tie in these 6x9's, sub and amps to a stock 20002 intrepid cd deck with little to no fuss. Cheers, DKH Replies (13) Ash on 08/19/2006 05:49:07 Unless the Pioneer has line outs to daisy chain another amp, you will have to use a convertor with some Y's to feed both. In all honesty though, I would use one of the amps on a good set of speakers in the front as I assume the 6x9's are in the rear shelf with 6.5's in the front doors, right? My lady had a 99' Intrepid and that's how her's was. I used a single USB-4065 to power the doors and a Dayton 10" located near the trunk quarter panel. A simple Pioneer HU powered the 6x9's for rear fill, which worked out nice. I believe I posted the results a good while back. swez on 08/19/2006 07:54:30 A newer Aftermarket HU would solve this as well. What is the complete gear list you have now? (Model # on Pioneer amp) Which verion Sub? (2+2 or 4+4 DVC?) Also, how much time, money and effort are you willing to invest in this cars' audio system? Think long term here... "My ultimate goal for this car is....???" Swez ttocs on 08/19/2006 08:27:48 does the deck say "infinity" or premium sound anywhere? Is there an amp in the drivers side of the trunk mounted behind the trunk liner? dkh on 08/19/2006 23:27:47 I havent had time to check this thing out yet. When i get a chance i will post my findings. The subs a 10" alpine type r dvc 2+2 and the amp is pioneer model GMT 510, and i recall it does have outputs to go to another amp. Maybe next weekend i will install these things. The only thing is I dont want to run power inside the car really. Can i run it outside in the frame rails or something? Unless, is there an easy way to do it inside the vehicle? dkh on 08/19/2006 23:29:40 I dont know if its premium or infinity swez on 08/20/2006 09:47:10 If the system is an Infinity upgrade over s stock factory system, the speakers will often have an Infinity logo on the grills. However, Infinity aftermarket speakers and amps are generally superior to Infinity OEM products. Car makers use low grade speakers and often cannot compare to aftermarkets. Wiring... there really aren't any "safe" short cuts regarding wiring a pair of amps for power. To do this well, you'll need to run a power line off the BAT Pos terminal, connected to an inline fuse, (protects BAT and ALT) then complete your run into the car interior where the amps are and use a fused "D-block". The US Acoustics does not have external/interal fuses. Not sure about that Pioneer amp. So, external fusing is required to protect each amp as well. Here, a #4 gage wiring kit will do the job. The USB draws just under 40A's at full power, The Poineer draws about 30A's @ 4 ohms. There are no safe short cuts here. Yes, some guys have run their power line inder the vehicle, but this is pretty much reserved to trucks as they have channel frames to hide/attach wiring. However, to do this in this car, you would need to use "sheathed" flex conduit to protect your power wire. Swez ttocs on 08/20/2006 11:26:52 look in the trunk behind the trunk liner and see if you can see an amp. Otherwise look at the back of the rear speakers and see if there are 2 or 4 wires. dkh on 08/30/2006 20:36:01 Can i mount the amp for the 6x9's in the engine compartment? I really am not into running loads of power line again. Then maybe run the wiring in the door sills for the speakers? Or will this be a noise generator? ttocs on 08/31/2006 01:41:27 As you said there is a big trunk, mount it in there. swez on 08/31/2006 14:07:45 "Can i mount the amp for the 6x9's in the engine compartment?" We'll just pretend that question was never asked OK? Thanks for the chuckle though... that's a first time question here... hehe GRIN Heat kills amplifiers and the heat under the hood is well over 200 degrees in the summer time... unless you live in the Arctic Tundra, Northern Siberia or the South Pole. Cute question though, Swez cplkittle on 08/31/2006 16:43:37 screw it to the headliner with 3" screws, and use caulk or silicone to waterproof your new flagpoles. swez on 08/31/2006 16:56:48 Kittle, that's not funny... they are not flag poles mang, they's lightning bolt arrestors. Da be even mounted to ground. That's not a bad idea, but for security and a more efficient lightning arrestor, use 6" lag bolts. SMILE Swez cplkittle on 08/31/2006 17:43:00 can you get the security lug nut style bolts for them.. ya know the ones with the funny star attachments to get em off?
