Alright guys, this is kind of a messed up question but i will ask anyhow. Ok, i want to cut my backseat out to fit in this 4.0 cubic foot box that i made. Now, i removed the backseat, but i dont have the fold down stuff cus its a '93 Sunbird 2 door. there are two thin pieces of metal that cross in an "X" form. I need to cut them out in order to slide my box in. Do you think tihs will damage my car in any way, or do you think the cross pieces are just to support the backseat. I dont want to cut it and have the car cave in or rear window to come loose or something, haha. Tell me what ya think fellas. I am guessing that the X you are referring to is located just below the rear deck in the trunk, correct? That or it is a sheet metal brace which is located behind the rearseat. Not familiar with Sunbirds. I would not suggest cutting any part of the frame of a vehicle. It will compromise the integrity of it, as well as your personal safety. It may not be something that would cause the car to fail driving down the road, but in some cases, it could be the result of a 5 mph accident that normally would make a small dent, causing the trunk to fold into the gas tank, etc... I'd look for another way. Is is possible to unbolt the "X", and then reattach once the box is in? Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
