i had some digital audio subs back in the day. they were okay, but i'm not familiar with their new stuff. they're made by audiobahn, so they can't be that good.

if it were me, i'd scope something else unless you can hear them first and make sure you like them.

Hey GH, good to see ya back at CK again.

Do you have hyper links for the speakers and subs noted above? I'd like to look at their specs before giving any opinions or suggestions on them.

Also, what are your hoping to accomplish with your speaker and sub upgrades? If you have a budget number in mind, we may be able to give you some assitance in finding well known performers that fit your budget and power requirements.

What amps are you planning to use with the speakers of choice?

Hey Swez,
Can't really find anything on them except this: http://www.digitalaudioinc.com/

As far as what I'm hoping to accomplish, just music for a couple of my vehicles. I can get a pretty good deal on them (less than $30ea for the subs and about the same for the components sets).

I'll use Bazooka or Ample Audio amps for the components and Bazooka RSA800.1D for the subs.

I checked the pdf files on that link and they offer hardly no more info than basic specs. I've seen the full range being sold in Pep Boys in blister packs and was kinda curious about the quality of them as well. If decent, I figured they would make a nice gift to my sister as she wants her stock system upgraded and has limited funds.

They are very reminiscent of Audiobahn with the over the top cosmetics and convertible tweets, except they at least include the external crossover (Audiobahns main full range driver weakness!). So, being made by AB, I can see that. The main problem I see with them is the cosmetics (magnet cover) seem like they would make them hard to mount in tight stock locations.

Are they any good? You will have to decide that for yourself as everyone has different hearing and these might just suffice if budget restraints rule and the sound is decent. I suggest before buying anything from any brand, try to audition a pair, particularly in a auto environment. If it's in a demo board, well, you know about that. However it sounds in the board, the auto environment will surely change, not to mention any special "props" that might be used for the demo. If your able to return a pair after checking them out (like Crutchfield does) that would be your best bet.

Believe these are a low budget line for Audiobahn. I have a pair of Bahn 5.25's for mids and in a modest sealed enclosure, they sound pretty darn good. They are very efficient, (94dB @1w/1m) and very good MB performance down to 75 Hz., too. If you can get these cheap, it's worth a shot.

If you were building a high-end SQL system, I'd look elsewhere. However, these are definitely a good step up from stock speakers. That MB driver looks pretty robust. However, I would not run them below about 60 Hz., if you go this route. They would almost make a good woofer set except for the nominal impedence... 3 ohms/spk.

FYI: If they are Bahns low-end stuff, the power ratings are RMS for a pair of speakers... NOT per speaker.

Thanks. I'll probably give them a shot. Heck, it's only money (and not much at that).

Digital IS rebadged Audiobahn stuff. Audiobahn used to sell to pawnshops in the late 1998-2000 years...but dealers wouldn't carry them unless they cut the Pawn brokers off.

As a compromise, Audiobahn created a separate identity for M&M merchandisers (the pawnbroker supplier) called Digital Audio. It was the EXACT same product, but in orange colors.

Since then, the DA equipment is usually last year's Audiobahn, but for the most part, the same item.

Just as we thought... a Bahn spinner.
