I have been waiting a few weeks to put this in. It arrived while I was our of town on business.I didn't realize that the paint I had was semi-gloss so I need to go over it again with flat black, but I think you get the idea. Sorry for some of the bad pics, the light was horrible today.

Whatcha think?GRIN

nobody?

Hummm, I thought the install looked pretty darn cleaver myself. (Except for the glossy paint finish)... feeling a bit left out? Any way... pat on the back and well done Scotty!!! CLAP

Ya know, I have noticed when some of the Golds post stuff, many read it but may feel a bit too timid or intimadated to comment. We all know each other Gold well enough and all. But it just seems that new comers might not feel right about making comments???

Ever notice that?
Swez

PS It's not like we bite folks here at CK... or do we? LOL

I don't think I have bit anyone on here..... But then I rarely think... I have noticed that people do not comment on stuff and have wondered if I have scared anyone off?

I'll probably pick up the flat black on the way back from work tomorrow. It will not take long to do and then I will be happy with it. I like the fit but the semi-gloss finish is really anoyin me.

The external temp gauge is neat, read a brisk 108 on the way back home yesterday from work... Still had the windows down, stereo cranked as usual. I think I need to get a helmet now as there is a little less fear......... Got myself into trouble on the sport bike like that, I rub the scar on my head while I drive alot to remind myself. Its a handy reminder, I have never forgot it yet and I forget EVERYTHING.

Hummm, sounds very familiar Scott... fear and pain are rarely forgotten. However, the "day to day stuff" gets a bit hazy as we get older or have too darn many things spinning around in the ol noggin'.

I think they call it the onset precursor to Alzeimer's? ;-) I have noted it a bit more of late in my life too. Ahhh heck, just have a few more "shots of the hard stuff", and all is forgotten. LOL

Swez

PS Have not bitten anyone here in a long time and I never bite first. If someone gets a bit nippy though, have been known to have the last bite a few times. (Rarely though... hehe)

Looks like several are reading this jibberish. (56 reads so far)

So, gave up alcohol for Crack eh? I don't think so... and willing to bet money that you have never even tried it. (Save for a 1 time experiment)

A long-time friend of mine, went through a series of tough events in the past year or so. He became totally addicted to Crack after about 6 weeks. He's now in deep denile and pretty much broke, all the time.

After observing the changes this Crack stuff has brought into his life, I had to severe our friendship of almost 10 years. He lies a lot, suffers from a lot of dillusional thinking and lost over 75 lbs in the past 8 months. I simply cannot trust him anymore!!! Basically, he'll do anything to get his habit needs met. (except getting a steady job)

It's really sad to see all this going on now. I once knew and trusted him like a brother. Now, can't trust him any further than I can throw him on his butt. Sad... very sad to watch a basically good man, fall apart at the seams because of his "HABIT". SAD

damn swez, ripped the joke outta that one. Ok yer right I have never tried crack I'll try and fix that.... I had to quit drinking with all my digestive problems, I am allergic to the nitrates in wine, and to the yeast in beer. I have enough problems keepin stuff down er in me that I don't need to drink..

OK, 56 reads we are not alone here. YOU, reading this right now, how come you are afraid to talk on my posts? Don't be scared er run away, but I know you are reading this and will hunt you downSMILE........

swez on 08/10/2006 11:17:10
Scott, (sorry to rain on your rant)

After watching my old buddy tread hard in rough waters, then turn to Crack for relief, it's no laughing matter. He's going down fast and that waterfall is just a few more miles downstream. Basically his habit, (addictive patterns) have ruined his once productive life.

So, you can't drink anymore... Do you drink any less? Have you stopped beating your wife yet too? (j/k... you're not married yet... lucky you) Well, there's always the "magic smoke" at your disposal???

Uhmmm, see you have 68 reads here now. Guess others are indeed reading this one with some interest? (But yet, they remain silent)

Come on you slothful readers'... "Get in on the fun as it's "pick on ttocs week" and he's not getting much feedback". We Golds all need a good laugh and some diversions at times, to break the lull in activity on the site. So, get your "butt kicking boots" on and have at it... SMILE

Yes, I'm fair game too. Can take a good humored knock or two and still keep laughing. Besides, the site is a bit slow of late, so we can stir the pot a bit and see what comes out of the boil. GRIN

Where's Mr. B and Victor when ya need em? Oh yeah, B's in Vegas, playing for his lunch monies. Victor... he's busy pimpin' a new line of products from Cerwin Vega's Mobile entertainment as the market in India is just now starting to grow. Go for it Victor... make it a big splash!

now up to 76 views, and still you and I babbling at each other.

Yall can pick on me all ya want... It was a good week at work for a change. I am a technition in a really high tech factory, and I called an engineer on a bad call. It really was a no-brainer and anyone would have, or should have done it, but I was there. The next day the factory manager made his way all the way back to see me and tell me good job. I have heard his name but never met him before, guess he knows mine now........

Ttocs,

I like the install, looks like it was a OEM option. Actually with a car like that it should be an OEM option lol. I like all that custom work and I appreciate the talent and patients it requires to get it done right. There was one time I helped a buddy make a flush mount amp rack for the side walls in is GTI. Lets just say that when we were done the first one it wasn't too flush haha.

Anyways nice work!

THANKYOU..... I was happy to thankyou just for replyin but thanks as well for the compliment. I was not really happy with the first time I did this as there were a couple of spots that showed up depending on the lighting. It was really not much but it bugged me along with the semi-gloss paint. I was still proud as a peacock driving to work the next morning. I got to work a little before 6am to start my shift and was delighted to find the car at a nice 138 when I returned 12 hrs later, the high outside was 113 that day. I guess after sanding the filler while it was still warm and then slappin a coat of paint on it before lettin it dry was a mistake. When I got in that night the filler had shrunk and it looked like crap.... I am happy to say that I got the chance to fix it today while at work(great story below) and let it dry properly before slappin the paint on it. My point is that after doin this for over 10 yrs, I still have to scrap things and fix them and they always look better then 2nd time. Did you and yer buddy finish the amprack?

Work today I was not looking forward to as the boss/manager was out for some back work and he is the DUDE that helps all the customers and takes 90% of the calls as 75% are for him anyways... I had been designated catcher at the front of the store. I had planned on saying one of two things all day-Thankyou for calling soundwerks how can I help you? No don is not here today I can take a message? or #2-how are you folks doing today? Anything I can help you with? No I'm sorry Don is out today.... I walked in to see the shop manager and lead tech lookin like all hell. They had been out till the wee hours and looked like they might still be drunk, but certainly not healthy or happy. We decided that me or the other guy would drive the cars around, they were really hurtin. When they saw me walk in with breakfast they were mad at me for not bringin them some and decided to take their first break to send the newby out to mcdonalds. After bickering about where to go, what to get, and how hung over they were and who had money 25 mins later he is off. The two leads were happy to sit and try not to puke while waiting for him to come back. After breakfast one guy drug a roll of carpet out and set up shop complete with a pillow on the table saw, the other camped in the caddy...... I went up front to enjoy the AC,and sand on my radar mount. Around noon I woke the guys up as one of our regulars came in and we helped him. he was happy to get our help and left $50 fer lunch! Well he talked us into it, time for a break.... Again after 25mins of complaining about where to go, what to eat, and how hung over they were the greenie was off. They now both took up shop in the caddy. The chili dogs really hit the spot I guess so after lunch we had recess and found a volly ball and played an impromptu game of world cup penalty shot with the garage door open as a big goal. The manager was 3 fer 5, even with a cigarret in his mouth and I was perfect at keepin the ball from hittin anything important behind him such as a car, speaker, amp, toolbox ect... That of course made us all hot(110 today) so we went up front for the AC, and they continued to complain about being hung over, and now havin heart burn. I was still sandin my piece, and now sanding the fingerprint greenie left in the fresh primer I sprayed..... I think you see where my day went, it was just non stop comedy from beginning to end with a cats-away-mice-will-play theme. I/we felt bad for bit about jerkin around all day but honestly he gets his money out of us every other day. In the end we did some business and some work, but it was not the theme of the day, got some great pics of the guys in action!!!

It's nice to have one of those messin around days at work when its slow. I'm back in school right now and I work part time at golf equipment retail store. As I'm sure you can imagine there are plently of times to just mess around and hit balls into the practice net. There was even this one time we were trying to lob balls from the front counter area into the shoe section, while trying to clear all the racks while not hitting the ceiling haha. Lets just say I am glad the owner doesn't check the security cameras too often. I figure we work hard 98% of the time, why not take a time out to relax when its not busy.

Also, when you get the radar dectector painted with the flat black color you should post some more pictures. As for that amp rack, we did end up getting it finished (it looks good now) and when we go to the local VW car meets people are always asking what shop we got the install done at. I just smile and tell them we did ourselves in my garage :)

Anyways, I'm off to bed now. Talk to you later,

Jay

That's hilarious ttocs... LOL

It's good to have a down and play day once in a while as we all need some diversions to break the bordom and day-to-day routines and even have time for a few "Government projects" too. We all need a play day, now & then.

It sounds like a lot of fun too, inspite of the heat. Whew

the boss called this morning to ask what happened to the alarm install? They never showed up and he wanted to know why we didn't give them a call? I honestly couldn't tell him that I was afraid one of the guys would puke doin an alarm install in the shape they were in so I told him I didn't realize I/we call people to remind them, and that the manager didn't say anything about it...

In cases like that, "play dumb".... always works when one is not familiar with other job functions and have not been properly cross-trained.

"Uhmmm, I did not know we can call customers to reschedule missed appointments?"

Scott, we all know you are a talented installer... (Kuddos pal) !!! However, Sales and managing a business are not your present job function right? These functions are much different that your normal tasks and require different skills and knowledge too.

It is "not reasonable" to expect a "Techie Type" to be familiar with other business functions outside their normal expertise. If the boss cross-trained you for these functions, that's one thing. But if not, he cannot expect you to think and act like a Salesman or Shop Owner/Manager. That's his function and why he's the BIG DOG in the house.

At least he did not roll his eyes or scold you for missing the beat on this one. Give him some credit for that one. This is where most owners have a well trained "backup" player in place. (Ie: A trained Sales/Admins person that can manage the front of the house functions well, in his absents.

They don't grow on trees nor come cheap. But if the Boss needs a solid "right-hand" guy to manage things when he's away, I am available if the price is right... hehe

Swez

PS Hummm, wonder what that would be like? Move to AZ, hang out with ol ttocs and pimp high end audio services??? It would have to be worth $30,000 plus commissions and moving expenses.
