I need to see if anyone can help me out. I have a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado LT extended Cab with the Bose 6 speaker system, I want to change my current stereo to a Double DIN Pioneer AVH-P6800DVD, I know I need an adapter so I don't loose the Door Chime and notifications. But I went on line and I see that double dim stereos require a 4'' opening, and It seems that my car has that 4'' opening but on some sites like crutchfield.com it says that it won't fit because GM cars have only a 1.5 din opening. But when I measured it its clearly 4''. Could anyone help me out with this, do you think it's ok to buy this stereo, will it fit? Thank You! It may fit with minor/major dash mods, but it would be good to know what those mods are, before you dive in. FYI: Most GM vehicles use a 1.5 Din HU system. Japanese and Chrysler use a 2.0 Din. This may be why Crutch is saying No-Way Jose'. Good luck and welcome to CK, Swez UKinstaller on 07/27/2006 22:26:26 you can get one in there with a little work. you'll have to file out the dash opening to let the motorized face of the double din open up properly. other than that, you can it in with no problem. wiring harness is going to run you $100+, plus you'll need an antenna adapter. the cage for the double din you're buying should fit in the opening of where the radio sits perfectly. shouldn't be too bad. replacement dash is about $100, so even if you mess up, it won't be too expensive to replace. no harnesses or anything plug into your dash. it just pops right off. no tools required! plenty of room behind the radio, too. -UK Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
