Tried to find some details on that Kenwood amp mentioned. I gather it's a 2 channel amp and can deliver close to 400 watts when bridged, to a 4 ohm load.

1. What size fuses are used in this amp?
2. Got a link to the specs or users manual for it?
3. What sub model # are you using here? (12W3v3 or 12W3V2)

Both W3 series subs come in 2, 4 & 6 ohms DVC's. Which coils set do you have now? It matters a lot to know which subs you have. Getting the right amp to match these subs will bring them to life.

Ok,so i did a lil research and it turns out the person ibought the speakers from on ebay lied to me.I have a set of W 0's and the amp is a two channel 100x2,or400 watts times 1 into 4 ohms.Yeserday i went and bought a front air enclosed box which i got ripped for (100$) it made a big improvement in the way the bass sounds but its not kicking you in the back like i want it to so let me know what you guys think. oh yeah the fuse sizes are a pair of 25

also i need some advice is it possible for this amp to be bridged for both speakers and if yes will the amplifier hang or go out in a bang

Need to know what the voice coil ohmic value is on your present subs before we can determine the best path for you here.

The WO series is a low wattage version (125-150 watts RMS/sub) that comes in 8,10,12 &15" versions. They also come in 4,8 &12 ohms SVC coil versions. The ideal version for the amp mentioned, would be a pair of 12W0-8's (8 ohm SVC's)

However, if you have the 4 or 8 ohm versions, the JL 250/1 amp is a very good fit for these subs. Then, use the Kenwood to power your Mids/Highs.

PS It sounds like you bought a Bandpass enclosure there GC? If the box is not well matched to your subs, the first sign of trouble, is often a blown sub. The most important partof a BP box design, is the sealed section of the box. The ported side is optimized for maximum sonic output in a somewhat narrow range of bass.

FYI: BP boxes can make a cheap sub sound pretty loud near the tuning frequency range, but SPL rolls off rapidly above and below tuning point. It's best to have a variable Sub Sonic Filter for Ported and BP enclosures. This blocks deep lows from the amp that can destroy a sub before you even hear a problem is developing.

I wish I would have known that before I got the box.The whole front of the box is plexi glass with 1 port in the middle of each sub. That Jl amp & sub sonic filter you mentioned, maybe you can help me get these at a resonable price.I wouldnt know how to check the coils,Where can I find out?

Yeah, agree it would have been a good idea to ask about BP enclosures sooner too... but we press on anyway. Can you return that enclosure for a sealed or ported enclosure?

To measure the voice coil ohmic values, we use an Ohmeter. You can buy a low cost digital multimeter at Wal-Mart, Radio Shack or most good autoparts stores. If you have any electronics buddies, ask around and see if they can measure the sub coils for you. If not, this one, (Or something silmilar) will do the job and more:

Once we know the voice coil ohmic value of your subs, then we can look at amps to give you the best performance from what you have now.

FYI: You may try removing one sub and look at the markings on the magnet. If it says something like JL 12W0-8 or JL 12W0-4, we can figure it out w/o a meter. Have a close look and report what you see.

so i found out the voice coil is a single the rms wattage is 125.I dont see why I cant return the box I have the recipt, give me your recomendation Swez on what measurements& what type of box exactly.im watching a bid on ebay for a 250 watt jl audio amp for (50$) including the shipping price, what do you think should I put in a bid?

Quote: "So i found out the voice coil is a single. The rms wattage is 125."

Yes, that is correct and we already discussed that part. Need to know what the ohmic value is on these subs???

The JL 250/1 retail price is pretty high. But a good rule of thumb is about $1.00 a watt for a new amp. If you can get a NIB amp for under $250.00, consider it a good deal. If used, figure 50% of retail or a bit less.

**Update**
Ok so I went to the store and bought a 500 watt jl amp so now im using the kenwood kacX301T for the 6x9's what do you guys think about the epic center no go or go ?????

swez on 07/25/2006 15:52:52
The Epicenter is a great product for high end bass performance systems. However, if you already have a JL 250/1 or 500/1, the Bass EQ features in those amps will do a very good job already.

The main issue that will hold you back from clean, full lows from this amp and sub pairing, is the BP enclosure. The WO series was designed for sealed or ported enclosures. If you throw too much wattage at them in a poorly matched BP box, the only time you'll know you have a problem, is when the subs blow and quit playing.

Here are the sealed and ported specs for sealed and ported boxes recommended by JL for the 12W0-4 subs: (Page 3)

That Kenwood amp, what 6x9's are you using here? (Make & Model #)
Also, are these mounted up front, in the rear or both?
