How can I mount an older CD player better

USFLAG I was given an 1991 model Eclipise CD player a couple days ago. It works but the sticker detailing what each wire is for has been scraped to the point I can barely read anything. Using a little common sence I have been able to hook it up in my 91 GMC Jimmy. The problem I have is with the CD player skipping on rough roads or bunps. I know the best solution would be get a newer CD player but I'm not in the position to afford one at this time. So what I'm asking is does anyone have a suggestion on how to shock mount the CD player to help eliminate some of the skipping problems. I've already heard the buy a new vehicle suggestion too and I refer back to my lack of cash, Ha.
Thanks for your time.

a back brace would be pretty easy to put in with that car and will help hold the back of the radio and keep it from shaking. I have to say though that in '91 they were not making cd player to not skip, just play.......

Back then, they were called eSkips :-)

It might also be that the suspension is just plain worn out as well. If so, getting it reconditioned might be the only option.

First of all the suspension of the vehicle is actually pretty good. So is the interior. The thing sat untouched in a field four about six years I'm told. As for the CD player, your right it does not have the skip protection of modern players. I might try suppoting the back a little better. I might have to break down and enter the 21 Century and just by a newer CD player. One with the usb ports in it.

take a look at the AVIC-Z1 (pioneer's newest) it has a built in 30gig hard drive. the cost is only 12x your average CD player, but it is awesome!!
dvd, cd, mp3, wma, dvdr, navigation, backup camera, bluetooth, xm, sirius, ipod, nav traffic, and so on

well, if the suspension is doing so well, why is the player skipping? we're not talking about the vehicle's suspension..the cd player's suspension

I can show you my suspension on my chev blazer if you want. I jacked it up approx 6" in the rear by simply removing the leaf springs, buying two new axle mounts for 30 bucks and then driving it to work and getting one of the millwrites to weld on my axle mounts. Its pretty cool. I will get a pic one of these days and poste it in my stereo pics!
