Envoy CD player problems

We have a 2003 Envoy with a Bose CD player. We have had the CD player replaced 3 times. They play the CD's sporadically for a short time then quit all together and eject the CD. The whole control panel gets really hot and the CD's are hot. The dealership seems to be at a loss as to what the problem is. Has anyone else heard of this,

bad engineering most likely. the only guy who can actually fix it is the guy who made the design ie: the engineer behind the head unit.
Maybe try replacing the unit with an aftermarket deck. You can find deals on decks in the local newspaper.

That's a first on this board.

If the player gets hot and so does the dash, this could be causing premature failures in the player/changer. Sounds like a defect in the system you have in this vehicle?

Does this vehicle have the premium Bose package? (external amps, Bose speakers etc.) If yes, and you have an extended warranty plan, ask them to replace or run a full diagnostics on all factory audio componets. It could be a problem with the radio itself. (Rare, but not out of the question either)

The amps are pretty reliable and same with the speakers. Not the greatest fidelity around with a stock package, but this kind of reliabilty issue is very abnormal. Has anything in the audio system been modified to your knowledge?

Say more please,
Swez
