This is a question for the installers, what reliable motion detector do you use? I am having trouble finding a reliable one. Replies (3) ttocs on 06/27/2006 12:12:57 I have always used DEI myself. I have had one in my truck for 5 yrs but they often require tuning them a couple of times a year. They tend to drift a bit with the season changes and unless you have a convertable I would honestly say they are more trouble then they are worth..... MrBrownstone on 06/27/2006 14:09:21 Alarms work best when they don't go off a lot. Consider not worrying about it...unless you have the convertible or cars with no door jam surrounding the window. They also tend to go off too often if set too sensitively...making it annoying to everybody. Alarms really only work when they go off judiciously...and not 3 times a day. short story..we had a neighbor get his car stolen the other day when his alarm went off 8 times in the same week between 8pm & midnight. When it went off @ 1am...we were all so sick of it, we ignored it. I kinda felt bad, l....well, not really as I have my windows open at night and it's awakened me about 4 times in a month. I ignored it because it always went off. ( I was rooting for someone to steal it so he'd move!! -end Devil's Advocacy) coincidentally, the reason it usually goes off? Wiley Coyote usually puts his paws on everybody's windows to look in for food. heck, I have 2 paw prints on my windows once in a while...but mine doesn't go off. here in San Diego, in the canyon, we're infested with little Keyuties Gotta love it. cplkittle on 06/28/2006 20:28:28 The last one I did, I had to wrap in dynamat to further adjust the sensitivity down.. it was just waaaay to sensitive... Speaking of dynamat How many calls do you get from customers wanting you to dynamite their trunk? Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
