Hey guys, I just bought a new computer and I am gonna buy some speakers to go with it. I generally am not reallly impressed by the bass from home theater and computer systems cuz they seem to be sloppy and weak. I was just wondering if you guys had any good suggestions for a 2.1 speaker system with a nice punchy car-audio-like subwoofer. I'm looking at about 150 bucks but thats not final. Thanks. This is a very cheap and simple receiver with CD, Tape, AM/FM and an AUX input. This Source Unit has 5 preset tone features... Flat, Heavy, X-bass, Vocals and Soft presets. They automatically change EQ settings to whatever preferences I like and with the multi-band EQ feature in Real Player 9.0, you have even more EQ flexibilty. All you need is a patch cable that converts your computer sound card outputs to RCA's that go to the AUX input on the Source Unit. I have a pair of Fisher Studio - Standard Towers. (ST-9425) These are 3-way, bass reflex woofer design and a 5" cone MR and 3" cone tweets. The Source unit is only 12-15 watts RMS, but it fills my office space in the basement, very well. Have used a pair of Polk 7A Studio monitors with very good SQ results. This is a nice 2-way system with a 10" passive radiator design. Great for low power systems and excellent low bass response due to the passive radiator coupling. http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showcase/closeup.php?userid=58136&pic=163_20_big.jpg There are many ways to get above average results for your computer sound system. Just depends on who well you research your options and make quality purchased at the best prices you can find. Swez Mr._Miyagi on 06/19/2006 21:52:56 I can't find the Fisher Studio website or any information on them or where to buy them. Where did you buy them? Did you buy the mini receiver separately or as part of a boombox type set up? Eli swez on 06/20/2006 09:40:25 Just had some of this stuff on hand and started putting things together in combinations to determine what would work. Did not spend a dime here either... just used what I had on hand. The mini-receiver was just sitting on a shelf, collecting dust for a while and my Dad said... here ya go. Use it if you need it. It came with 4 small 2-way speakers and I use a pair of them as rear channel (ambient) fill. No, it's not true 4.1 sound, but good enough for now. You can buy inexpensive 120 volt receivers with speakers at WalMart, KMart, Target ot the big box stores. However, for some decent bass, a larger format speaker system will help. (25 watts per channel is not a bad place to start) The Fisher's are about 8-10 years old. They came with a receiver that I long since trashed. Can't find a picture of them, but they are towers. These are roughly 36" H, 14" W and 10" D. Have a look at these for some ideas: http://www.fisherav.com/products.htm#DVD Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
