Firstly, I would like to thank swez assistance to solve the noise issue. Now I am going to next step and before I buy the speaker and I like to your kind advise. My car is Honda Del Sol and Heat unit is Sony CDX-GT300 Amp is Rogers 428 - 45W x 4channel and bridgable Front component is Focal Access - 165 ( 6.5 inch ) Now, I am thinking to use 1 single small subwoofer and my choice is JL Audio 6W0-4 put in the back of seat http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=23 Or use 2 mid bass speaker in rear ( stock speaker location ) and I will choice Pioneer TS-M01RS http://www.pioneer.com.sg/storefront/ProductDetail/default.asp?ProductId=110&CatId=2,27,46 I personally prefer to use 1 subwoofer and would like to get advise from you guy. Even I need to build an enclosure but I do think this small 6 inch subwoofer will better sound quality. Do you think which way will sound better? I like to listen those music with bass. Thanks a lot. Max from Hong Kong Replies (7) ttocs on 06/13/2006 17:19:36 what kind of music do you listen to? I have installed the JL 6.5's and they do not sound bad, but they cannot play very low. They tend to sound better the more you add but still cannot get as low as I would like a sub to go. Ash on 06/13/2006 17:50:43 Why not a single 8"? For decent sub bass an eight is the smallest I would run. I've heard some RF 6.5"s used for the sub end in a truck once. Actually got to listen to them on various genres for a good while when I hung out with a partner of mine. Plain and simple, we both agreed they just couldn't get low enough to add real depth to the sound. They had a hard hit to them though. Later he got rid of them for some decent eight's and stayed on that size since. swez on 06/14/2006 10:30:56 Agreed!!! A single 8 or 10" sub will not require a large enclosure. (Under 1 cubic foot of space to make this work) Amping is another question... what amp do you plan to use for the sub? Make, model and specs would be most helpful. (A PDF link is best) FYI: There are 6.5" woofers out there that can get pretty low in bass, but the box size needed to get that bass performance is often large. (2.0 cf or more) Say more please Max, Swez PS You are most welcome for the noise problem resolutions! Glad it worked out for you. HAPPY Del_Sol on 06/14/2006 22:05:18 Thanks for your advise. I will go for 8 inch instead of 6 inch. Since not all the audio shop in Hong Kong carrying US brand and therefore, can you suggest me the good 8 inch woofer from Alpine, Pionner or Sony. And some shop carrying JL and Momo in Hong Kong but not in full range. And I will make the enclosure ( size ) as per the SubWoofer manual, pls correct me if my thinking is wrong. My amp was given from a friend and the spec. as follow. http://www.rogershifi.com/ENG/spec-RSA-428.php I do not post it in last post since it is in Chinese. But, I do believe you can know what its mean from the unit. I always listen POP music and Chinese song. And this time is first time I change Stereo in my car, it is much fun. Thanks again for your kind help. swez on 06/16/2006 15:53:47 Max, the Rodgers 428 amp shown... what size fuse in in this amp? Also, do you plan to use all 4 channels for a sub or just rear channels? As for 8" woofers, JL makes a nice one. Avoid Sony!!! Pioneer has a shallow mount 8": http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/product/details/0,,2076_310069929_297969765_tab=B,00.html?compName=PNA_V3_ProductDetailsComponent JL Audio: 8W3v2 is the one you will probably want here. Depends on how you wish to wire sub to amp though. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=19 Or: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=22 the 4 ohm model is probably a good bet here too. Comments? Swez Del_Sol on 06/19/2006 01:18:44 Thanks ! I have checked my AMP and visit the Audio shop in Hong Kong in last weekend. The fuse in my AMP is 40A and it said stable in 2 ohm. I am planning to bridge it and rear channel for subwoofer, front channel for the component set. And using seal enclosure for this 8 inch. I am very interested in Pionner Shallow 8 inch Sub model TS-SW841. however, the product is not avialble in HK and my only way it buy it from internet. I like it since the enclosure only need 0.15 to 0.5 cu.ft. Checked JL-audio i8w3v2 n Hong Kong but it is not easy to get it. and the enclosure size is 0.33 cu.ft. Now, I find Polk Momo 8 inch MM2084 and it avaialble in the market. And it enclosure size is similar as JL one - 0.35 cu.ft. Therefore, I would like to have your opinion I should go for Polk Momo or pick the JL one? Besides, Polk Momo MM2084 has 2 model, one is MM2084 and another one is MM2084DVC. I would like to know I should buy the MM2084 or MM2084DVC one. Dual Voice coil will sound better or mainly deliver higher power ? Pls teach me. Thanks a lot. I am very appreicated for your guys kind advise here. Max from Hong Kong swez on 06/19/2006 06:33:46 If you use a 4 channel and bridge the rear channels for the sub, use a 4 ohm SVC sub. (Single Voice coil) The power you are likely to see in the bridged rear channels, will be about 150 watts RMS @ 4 ohms. Warning: DO NOT USE SUB OHMIC LOADS BELOW 4 OHMS ON A BRIDGED AMP. (it will damage the amp) The Polk MOMO is a nice option. Use the MM2084 as it can handle 200 watts RMS and is a 4 ohm SVC. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-7fNLdH0k038/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=520&id=detailed_info&i=107MM2084#Tab Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
