i built a complete custom system in a 90 accord. the problem is my amps are enclosed under plexi-glass have 4 fans 2in 2out how can i get cold air to the in fans. now it just blows hot air past the amp no good. i need aoption and porting an a/c duct isnt a option..... thoughts anyone Replies (3) ttocs on 06/12/2006 16:04:04 you could try a bucket of ice........... Other then fans there isn't really a good way to cool amp. As long as the air going across it is cooler then the amp it will help. You can also try to reduce the heat the amps put off by lowering the impedence that they are running, as well as maybe turning the gains down. MrBrownstone on 06/12/2006 17:48:28 If the heatsinks are hot, the design is working beautifully. If the amp is shutting down, then it is time for a change (like ditching the plexi). Yeah, it looks cool for shows, but trunks are basically hot places and not a wonderful environment for electronics that produce a lot of heat. swez on 06/12/2006 18:32:33 Have an innovative idea for you to consider. It's an electronic heater/chiller that happens to power off a 12 volt DC power supply. Basically, it's called a Peltier device, used by Coleman portable coolers, (and others like it) that can cool or heat, (depending on polarity of wires) fed to this device and you need a fan to blow over it to create the chiller effect. This unit with a very small fan, can chill a 2 cf container to about 45 degrees F., in about 1-2 hours. The higher the fan velosity, the faster it will cool. You will need something to contain and remove the water as it accumulates. A good size sponge will do. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
