(No your preferences, but his pls) Figure out what HU features he likes and the kind of music he likes best. Some guys love gadgets and others prefer simplicity. What is his preference? Also, have a close look at the car and determine the best locations available for speakers. In this vintage, only AM radio was the option and often a single speaker in the dash and perhaps one in rear deck were used. The 4 channel option is a good one. Front stage for sure, rear stage can be a paor of 6x9's or a single 8-10" midbass/woofer, depending on how the LPF is setup. This give good low end extension and if you use a free-air sub, the trunk becomes the enclosure. The budget should be fine here. One can get and do a lot with $800.00 Finally, realize the electricals on this vintage car were minimal back then. If he put a newer motor in and can upgrade to an OEM ALT with say 85-100A's, this is a plus. Comments? swezdp is my YIM connect Swez PS Consider that you will have to pre-wire all speakers used. These older cars used a common ground for audio back then. That's 1 speaker wire and a body ground. Here, you want 2 wires per speaker. gearhead on 05/31/2006 17:57:08 One other thing to take into consideration. If it has the original electrical system, it's 6 volt. raulbustos on 05/31/2006 23:03:36 um first off he put in a new 350 motor with a new style alternator with a 12v setup and i would defenatly replace all the wires using 70 year old wire to me is asking for some problems. this is by no means an original car restoration so modern electronics is what he is looking for and the reason i would go with a pioneere cd player is first off personal experience with them and he has one in his new truck and loves it now as far as what type of music he likes im not exactly cristal clear but some how i really doubt it that he listens to a lot of rap! as for the placement of front speakers he want to use kickpanels and for the rear just on the trunk deck lid. so from what else should i find out Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
