how do i wire 2, 4ohm dvc

i've been trying to wire two, 4ohm dvc subs to 2ohm, so far the only diagrams i've seen show only two options, 1ohm and 4ohm. i'm thinking the only way to do this is with a paralel/series wiring. if i put them to 1ohm, and then series on the outside would that give me 2ohm? my amp only says it can handle 2ohm stable @ 800watts its a a8000t, and my subs are aw1006t. should i just give up and buy a new amp to pair together with 4ohm @ 400watts per amp, or should i buy an amp that can do 1ohm stable?

A 1 ohm stable Class D amp is what you need here. The A8000T is 2 ohm stable and there is no way to run a pair of 4+4 DVC's to achieve a 2 ohm load.

Your present option is to wire the subs for a 4 ohm load and get about 400 watts RMS from this amp. Not bad, but not ideal either.

The other option, is to use only 1 sub and keep the other as a spare. These subs are rated at 900 Wrms/each. So, the amp should power 1 sub very well. If you have a desire for dual subs, get a matching A8000T and wire 1 sub per amp. (2 ohms) This amp is not very expensive either. It may be cheaper in the long run to use dual A8000T's, then go out and buy a new amp.

The only drawback here, you'll need some strong electricals to power a pair of these amps to full potential. (Somewhere in the 50-60 amperes per amplifier range) Specs say 2x30A fuses per amplifier.

That's a lot of current draw at full power per amp. (120A)

thanks, swez. if i were to go with the 1ohm stable amp, are there any you recommend.

the JBL power series amps are 1 ohm stable. so you could buy a 1200.1 and push 600 to each sub.

but yeah, your best option would probably be to run dual A8000Ts, or just do a little shopping around for 1 ohm stable amps.

soundstream makes some, the old PPI art series amps are EASILY 1 ohm stable. orion's XTR amps are 1 ohm stable as well.

you might want to look into arc audio as well. the 1500V1 XXK pushes 1000 rms at 1 ohm.

it is going to be really hard to find one amp to push 900wrms to two subs for less than 7-800 dollars.

hifonics makes a 2000 watt amp that is 1 ohm stable for around 500 but im not the biggest fan of hifonics in general.

rockford's newer BD amps are 1 ohm stable as well, and i think the T20001 is supposed to push 2000wrms.

i could keep going, but its going to be your choice in deciding how much money you actually want to spend, how many amps you want, and how much actual power you want going to these subs

Xboi gave a pretty good run down on 1 ohm stable amps. There are also some from AudioBahn that would also fit the bill. However, cost for a 1500-2000 watt (RMS) amp will be high and current draw will still be well over 100A.

If it were me, I'd start with 1 sub and 1 A8000T and see if you like what you get. 800 watts RMS is a lot of power. Going with a single ported sub will give the same low bass SPL as dual amps, dual subs in a sealed box. Much easier on your wallet & electricals too.

exactly, something i forgot to mention. an amp with that much current draw might lead to problems, especially if you have a stock electrical system. remember your stock alternator doesnt leave much room for improvement as far as extra current draw.

so either stick with two subs and try to put a lower amount of clean power to them both, or like swez said, go with one sub, get a nice ported enclosure and use the amp you have :)

for now, i've put in two 12'' orions in a bandpass, they're pretty old i think atleast 8 years old, but they seem to work good with my amp at 4ohms. just until i can find a good single ported box for my bahn. do you think it would make that much of a difference to get one custom built? if not, do you have any links to some boxes that will work? thanks you guys, sorry for all the questions.

Here's the manual for that series sub. Look up your model number and go sealed or ported. Avoid Bandpass as they are limited in frequency range. See page 8 on .pdf file for specs on ported (Everyday Bass) enclosure and porting details.

1.5 cf (internal)
Port: 3" dia; 6-3/4" long
Tuned @ 39 Hz.

You may not find a well matched ported box off the shelf here. This sub needs a strong box. (3/4" -1.0 thick MDF) If you are handy or have friends that are, make one to meet specs and fit in your specific vehicle.
