Experts, I just installed a used cd/audio from an 99Xterra to my 97Pathfinder. Everything works but the SOUND. Since all the harness/wire are the same ( I assume ), it seems to bypass the amp. How can I restart it? Thanks a lot Replies (5) swez on 05/23/2006 06:49:35 If there are external amps in this Pathfinder, the stock HU will have a trigger wire that turns on the amp(s). This may be all that is missing. Perhaps one of our Pro Installers can help you with locating the specific trigger wire in the stock harness and use the aftermarket HU remote wire to power same. Swez ttocs on 05/23/2006 10:25:54 What he said. Look for the blue wire if you used an after market hrns, if you didn't then you will need to locate the amp and see which wires go to +12v with the factory deck on. buhula on 05/23/2006 12:33:56 Thanks, Pros. As I mentioned, the HU from Xterra is almost identical to the old one in Pathfinder. I kept the original hrn which has a 6-pin and 10-pin plug-in. With a chart for these pin positions, I did see one for amp and another for ground. I have tested two 12v pins (one for radio and the other for ignition) and both of them work. The ground is hooked to the metal bracket. Swez must be right there might be a trigger on the new HU but I wonder what it normally looks like and how you connect it to the hrns or amp since all the pin position are occupied. swez on 05/23/2006 12:59:15 On Aftermarket HU's there are often 2 blue wires in the harness. The solid blue is for power antenna only. The other blue wire has a white stripe on it. This is the remote amp trigger supply line. The trick here, is to find out which stock harness line feeds the external stock amplifier to turn on. Another option would be to bypass the stock amp and wire the speakers directly off the HU amplifiers. To do this one just extends the speaker lines out of the HU, directly to the speakers used. It's time consuming to take this route, but usually does work out well. In the front door speakers, we usually find a factory connector in the kick panels that has the same color codes as the speaker lines connected in the door panels. This make a good tap in point and no extra wires are needed inside the door. Swez ttocs on 05/25/2006 00:30:04 hook up to stock deck and test to find the remote turn-on with it.
