Hi Folks. Very happy with my new Blaupunkt MP300 in my 90 toyota camry. I installed it yesterday, but it seems now my dash lights are out, and before I take it all apart I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of what I did wrong and how to fix it. Thanks so much! Kathryn

Did you use an aftermarket hrns to integrate into the factory wiring, or did you cut the factory hrns off?

start simple by checking your fuses, ALL the fuses. There should be one labeled ILL or something similar, but check them all as sometimes circuits go through others and are not fuse in the place you would think.

If it pops again when you replace it we will need to look at your wiring. There is a illumination wire in the radio hrns. If it is shorted out you will need to fix it before they will work again.

Hi. Thanks for the help. I used an after market harness I bought at a installation store. I will check the fuses first. I remember seeing I believe an orange wire that had some kind of dimmer lable that didn't match anything and maybe that was the problem, but before I take it all apart I wanted some help. You see, this system has a very strong light on it and I read complaints that people said there has to be a way to turn the lighting down and I read there was, so I am guessing there is some kind of connection with their dim switch and the one to the dash, I don't know. Also another problem is when the car is turned off say at a gas station the player does not go back to the same place at the song when you turn the care back on, but starts the cd over. Someone said that I can change the wiring to keep playing but always have to turn the cd off when the car is off. Bad idea or not? Thanks. Let me try the fuses and get back to you.

if you didn't properly insulate the orange wire then that is probably your problem. Check your fuses first but I would put money down that we have the problem.

As for it starting the cd over, that is strange. I have never heard of a cd player that did this and I have been installing for over 10 yrs. You could wire it up the way you heard, it is as simple as switching a single wire. You would need to turn the radio off evreytime you leave the car or it would kill your battery after a while.

you probably dont have it wired right, does your clock reset and you lose all of your settings as well as the player startin the cd over???? if so its probably ur 12v constant lead that is not wired correctly, yellow wire i think... this just keeps enough power to the player to keep its memory going... and if that is hooked to the ignition then every time u turn your car off the memory resets
