What do you guys think of ....
2 10" diamond audio cm3 d2 subwoofers rated at 300 watts rms each woofer (600 watts rms total)
alpine mrd-m501 amp rated at 550 watts rms at 2 ohms
what do u think?

Yes, that would be fine. There is no real advantage to have more power for these subs. The main thing to remember... don't run the subs so hard that your amp begins to clip heavily at bass peaks. This is accomplished by properly matching HU output voltage to amp input needs via amp gains. Also, avoid heavy use of the bass boost feature on any HU or sub amp. A +6dB boost is plenty. Much more than that, will make the amp clip sooner.
