Hey there, Ive got two 10" Diamond Audio CM3 D2 subwoofers. Im not quite sure if i should use a ported or sealed enclosure. Im looking for a lot of deep bass in my BMW X5. Im gonna run the subs off a Alpine MRD-M501 amp. Any relplies would be much appreciated. thanks Replies (3) swez on 05/9/2006 12:26:05 Ported designs will give you about +3 dB more SPL at the port tuning frequency. Yes, ported boxes are larger too. If your PTF is say 30-35 Hz., that's a nice bump in the deep low bass region. Also, when porting, a Sub Sonic filter is needed to blocl lows, below the port tuning freq. (PTF). This Alpine amp doe have a SSF. variable subsonic filter (15-50 Hz in 5 Hz steps) Swez bmur45 on 05/9/2006 12:51:45 Thanks Swez, but unfortuanly im a real newbie when it comes to car audio so i dont quite follow you when your using terms like, +3 dB, SPL and PTF? MrBrownstone on 05/9/2006 13:20:16 Oh Dear Don't fret. The terminology is simple.
