Radio Shack has a useful hand held model. However, its max input is 126dB. $50.00

We use this one for live sound mixes and zone SPL control. It's fine for stage monitor mixing, mains and remote fill speakers. If you need a meter for high SPL readings above 126dB, it'll cost a lot more. Check out Audio Control. (Epic-160)

I have been using the Epic-160 for quite a while now. I have tested it against a couple diffent meters, and it always seems to read about 3 decibels high. Knowing this, I would definitely recomment getting one. The other features are nice too. My car didn't come with a voltage meter, so that was an added bonus with the Epic-160. I hardly ever use the built-in Epicenter, but when I do, man does it scare the hell out of my passengers ;)

well under or around $50 that Epic-160 sounds great but $150 is a bit to much for what i want to do for now but that may be some thing to look in to getting later down the line

ps hey guys just thought id let you all know i just finished my last final for the year summer break here i come hope fully ill have a lot more time to work on my vehicles

Yes, your system should exceed 126dB as noted. (probably low to mid 130's, depending on cabin gain effects)

The Epic-160 is a good tool. May be cheaper if you can find one off e-bay. However, if you can find a shop to meter your system for say $20.00 or less, why not?
