Well, i've kind of been out of the scene for a while, had a car that i threw all my money into the motor. i recently sold it(honda, 240whp 190tq) and bought a nicer, more comfortable infiniti G20 touring edition. So i've decided i need to get a decent system going again. My stock speakers sound great and are in good condition so an upgrade probably isnt needed there. i'm looking to spend around 500 dollars but i already found an amp...for $50 GRIN (my old favorite JBL BP600.1) now what to run with it...THINK its good to be back, hopefully i can help out a little bit even though i've been out of the scene for a while. i've missed you guys, i see some old timers are still here along with some new guys. i'll be back later, time for work :) Replies (6) swez on 05/5/2006 18:39:26 Well... look who came back to the roost again? Helloooo X-boi !!! JBL Power 600.1 for 50 beans? Not a bad deal. Do you want a SPL ground pounder or have you settled down and ready for a nice SQL rig? Do you want 10, 12 or 15" sub(s) here? One or two? Swez xplicitblitzboi on 05/5/2006 19:42:32 :) yes i am back. im thinking of two tens. maybe ported maybe sealed....cant decide. i want a good mix between spl and sql. swez on 05/6/2006 12:55:28 How about a pair of these: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=3146 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=3163 If you shop around, you might get them for about $100.00/ea. Also, check JBL's website for enclosure needs. http://www.jbl.com/car/products/category.aspx?cat=SUB Swez Victor on 05/6/2006 15:44:22 Hey, had always wondered about some Golds i used to see in the list, been here since 2 years but never really got a chance to converse with u since u were not around much, Its good to have the old gurus back on CK. Welcome . That amp u got is a solid performer one of the best of its times, and a father to all most all the amps JBL makes now, and for the price you got it its a great deal. For a SQL setup , you can go either with 2 x 10" or a 12" sub in a ported enclosure. I would personally prefer a sealed , but if you are looking for some extra loudness then ported is always a benefit. There are many good subs out there in the market these days, Alpine, Adire, Blaupunkt, Boston Audio, CDT,Dynaudio, Diamond, Elemental designs, Earthquake, Focal, Hifonics, infinity, JBL, JL, Kicker, Kenwood, Memphis, MA, MBQuart, Nakamichi, Orion, PPI, Phoenix Gold, Polk, Rockford, Sound stream and many more.. look out for a solid 500-700wrms 4ohm DVC 12" sub or 2 300-400wrms 10" subs, and put it in a sealed enclosure fabricated to specs and you will value it for long. Hope I could be of some help. A single 12" Adire Brama (4+4 DVC) will handle this amp in a sealed enclosure. The long excursion on this sub design yields impressively clean bass and can go very low too. The Alpine SWR-1242D is fine too. It is rated for 500 Wrms, but can take large peaks in stride too. Swez xplicitblitzboi on 05/8/2006 11:23:56 i actually just picked up a single 10" Resonant engineering SE sub for 100 bucks. should i go out and buy another one or stick with the single? RE website says they are 600w RMS 4 ohm DVC.....600 rms....4 ohm dvc.....2 ohm load.....GRIN Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
