| sub placementby compvr15s Front Page * FAQ Forum * Archive Index Prev :: Nexthey guys i was wondering how much of a difference it would make on my bass to place my subs im my trunk. i had the box build specifically for my back seat but i think i can manage to fit it in my trunk. i have two 15" kicker compVRs and 2 kicker kx600.1 amps. if i do place them in my trunk they will have to face the top of my trunk, if i push this all the way to the back of my trunk will this affect my 6x9s because they have no baffle between them and the trunk, didnt know if the air flow would bother them. any suggestions would be great. they hit extremely hard right now but i was wondering if they would hit harder in the trunk. Replies (4) GT_man on 03/27/2003 15:00:30 unless your car is wierd...it will get the loudest in the back seat...not to mention "trunk bass" i hate the sound of trunk bass...I deal with it...but i hate it i would rather have subs in a suv/hatchback or in the backseat of a car..........just my opnion tho Swez on 03/27/2003 16:36:30 If you have flip down seats in the rear, trunk mounted subs are a good option. If not, you'll still have bass, but it won't sound as crisp and punchy as where you have them now. Also, when trunk mounting subs, a little experimentation is recommended. Most find best bass when facing the subs to the rear bumper. If you mount the subs upward, facing the trunk lid, may squash your bass sound as pressure waves have little room to propogate. They just splat into the trunk lid and make the trunk lid resonate some awful rattles. Again, a little experimentation is always a good option. Swez PS Trunk mounted subs are safer as you have a buffer between you and a flying sub box, in the event of an accident... God forbid! However, if you're confined to rear seat mounted subs... strap em down well or wear a crash helmet... LOL compvr15s on 03/27/2003 17:37:00 alright thanx guys. i really hate trunk rattle so ill probably keep them where they are now, cuz i know when i had my 2 L7s in the trunk the whole rear of the car rattled. i think its alot easier to set the amps too when they are in the back seat. Just thought id check with the experts:-) thanx alot SeVeNX7X on 03/27/2003 20:16:07 trunk mount = good security, rear seat mount = mad ****ty security.. asking to be stolen? make a difference in your decision perhaps? ...
