Hey guys, Just thought I'd share some good audio related reads for those that may be interested. Auto Audio, second edition by Yoder is a great book for novice hobbiests looking for detailed info on installation and maintainance of car audio stereos. After that book, Car Stereo Cookbook, second edition byMark Rumeric is a more advanced book covering a wider range of car audio info including design, fabrication and all aspects of system projects. Both books are available through Crutchfield and run $25.00. If it's a video your looking for, grab How to Install Your Own Stereo System, on DVD from caraudiohelp.com $29.95. Enjoy! For those who really want to understand the details of enclosures, speakers and all the goodies that go into the selection, design, building process and such, a very good resource. Would bet a good DVD would be most helpful to many. Something that shows all key install phases from HU, amps, signal processors, speakers, subs and all wiring/harware details too. The only thing here, there are so many variables from one vehicle type to another to consider. It's a lot like most DIYer TV shows. You see the basics and steps, but they often leave out some of the mission critical 'gotchas', details that snag even the most experienced DIYers. Slightly off topic comment: Gotta love those Infomercials too. You know the ones that show a "bumbling male idiot" struggling with a weed whacker and then they show some preppie woman doing the same job with a new product that makes her look like a Pro? What message does that send to the average consumer? hehe Oh brother, the marketing geniuses are working hard with tongue in cheek. WINK...Wink Swez Ash on 04/16/2006 18:47:31 If one really wants to get into some deep info, I would suggest reading "Vance Dickason Loudspeaker Design Cookbook". Starting with the 6th edition ( I believe). Though his "speaker bibles" are quite "techy" in terms, once you grasp the lingo you will come to fully understand and know how to manipulate your designs. Even though the car audio section is somewhat short, the rest of the book is what really brings you up to speed. Remember, in the end it is the drivers that will determine all! I must warn, however, that Mr. Dickason's books are not for the short attention spanned! Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
