I have been waiting to get my hands on car for over 10 yrs now. I was 18 and home on a weekend from my first freshmenGRIN year of college when my parents announced that they had decided to trade in my moms 87 for tempo, and get a new car. Dad knew how to save a buck and mom knew how to stretch it. they were normal people, drivin normal cars, I nearly fell outta my chair when they said they were lookin at the new mustang commin out. As I am sure everyone knows, in '94 they came out with the new more rounded body while keeping the 5.0 v-8 and being an 18 yr old that was into cars, I was anxious to even see one yet. "Wanna come tomorrow",they asked only once and I was up(and hung over(there is no puking smiley to insert)) but ready to go the next morning. I was amazed when they ordered a green gt was barely able to wait the weeks it took to get it in. When we picked it up, it was the 2nd one it town so we were not use to all the looks it got on the way home. I was again amazed when I asked if i could take it out for the afternoon and they tossed me the keys while giving a stern"I'll kill you if you wreck the car and live!" look. 18, king of the world driving a shiney new GT.... My parents were amazingly patient with my almost constant requests to get it any time I had a chance and because of this my friends named it the "momstang". It is the center of countless roadtrips and fond memorys.

I have been waiting to get my hands on that car ever since and starting to think my parents were enjoyin toyin with me as they held it. Mom's hip gave her problems with the heavy clutch and they bought her a 300c 3 yrs ago. I thought I had it but dad again suprised me by saying he wanted to keep it still, and parked HIS car in the driveway for all this time to keep the gt safe in the garageMAD. They called a few weeks ago and said that I could buy it for a good deal.

I used to hate the name "momstang" but now at 30 I kinda like it.... I am plannin on keeping it as a fun car to remember my mom and good times, as well as turnin it into a rice eatin machineUSFLAGUSFLAGUSFLAGUSFLAGUSFLAGUSFLAG

I want to keep the general stock idea of the car, its been nicely driven and kept up with(86K miles), but I say that I as I think of all the stuff I want to do to it and have to laugh.

I have some ford friends that will help under the hood, plannin a timing advance, underdrive pulleys as well as a possable intake, To help with the milafe for the long drive home. I would love to do an H-pipe, but it will have to pass emmisions in AZ. I am wanting to do sidepipes as well as some more extensive engine stuff in the longterm as the imports are gettin fast suckin on the bottles and I am sure after I loose to the first civic with the potato shooter pipe I will be in the garage with a saw hacking the cats off.........

What I do need help with is some of the audio equipment selections. I can put it all in and make is sound good while lookin perty, but I am dirty nervous istaller when a customer catches me in the show room with a Q?. I may have my hands on a used but maintained alpine EQ, 12" ID and 5 channel alpine amp that is ready to be thrown in the trunk. The amp is made to be on display behind plexi when the seat folds down in a same body style mustang. I must say that it is of the best quality since I made it fer my buddy's stang shortly before packing up in indiana and movin westPROUD. I know that the drivers door speaker is blown, mom musta got crazy with the NPR GRIN so the front speakers gots to go. The factory cassette is a little aged, as well as the tape selection that has remained in the car (the left overs shortly before switchin to cd a few years earlier) so it is also gonna end up in the trunk and probably in a box in my closet If I end up with my buddies amp/sub/eq then I will not need those, but I am going on the assumption that he will trade me for now. so to make a long story short, I need a cd/sirius HU, front speakers(it has factory tweeter mount, why not use them on componants), and maybe some rear speakers, the stock may do for now for rear fill. I work at a local shop and am in the owners good graces(he has a hard time finding reliable workers, dunno) so I have access to alpine, pioneer, jl, diamond and a few others I can't think of.... What would you get? I have 2 din spaces in the dash, I beleive 5.25's (maybe 6.5's)in the doors. I am going to get this all here at my shop and ship it home so it is waiting for the roadtrip. We also sell K-40 radars so that will also be thrown in for the road trip back FO SHO.........

Can ya tell I have been waiting for this?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.

Well, you have come to the right place to ask questions w/o being scorned or a sidways look. hehe

Which 5 channel amp is this? (Alpine MRV-F450?)

Front Comps to consider would be CDT, Alpine and definitely Diamonds. Use the rear speakers as MB or full range, depending on your tastes. Can always bridge the 4 chaninels for more power up front and use HU amping for rear deck speakers. Or, all 4 speakers powered via respective amp channels. Toss of a coin here.

The sub mentioned, is that a DVC or 4 ohm SVC? Depending on the amp used, you may be limited to a net 4 ohm load.

As for the HU, figure a good mid-range priced Alpine or Pioneer Premiere model with AUX inputs and Sirius Ready capabilities. Most of the better HU's have that feature available already. Just look at what models the shop sells and pick from there. With luck, they'll give it to you at cost +10% or lower.

Feeling a bit giddy about this trip huh? Giddy-yup! GRIN

I am looking forward to the trip this time, and found out that I might even be turning it into a roadtrip with a couple old buddy's. It is under unfortunate reasons, uhmmm. Its a long story but this is my post, and if you like gerry springer, this is half a step away and unfortunatly my morning...

I was awoke at 6:30 by my phone, I was a little annoyed until I saw that it was an old friend from back home. he cut the chit-chat and said that he was a little upset as he had just found out that his wife of 7 yrs and mother of his two kids has been having an affair. The bad part is that it is with another good friend of ours of almost 15yrs...... I am stunned as I thought our group had been through the "YA DON'T MOW ANOTHER GUYS LAWN" bs when another friend of ours snaked a girl from me years back. It was a big deal where of course everyones feelings were hurt. It all came to a screeming halt when he called me 5 months later to talk for the first time, to tell me that she had killed herself... Its the only bit of regret I have in 30yrs, I always thought it would cool off and pass and I guess it did, but not the way anyone wanted it to happen. So, now knowing all of this ya see the pickle I'm in. I have talked to both of the guys and they both know that I am there for either of them, while still being dissappointed at the cheating one. I can't imagine the one being happy in that town with all that is going on. I threw the offer of him getting away and comming back with me on the road trip and he did kinda like the idea. I am not big on kids but of course they are more then welcome as I have the space, and they are the ones I am most concerned about. It sucks as I know it is gonna get a hell of a lot worse then it is already before it starts to get better...

Yea, the car stereo... I am torn as what to put in it as I really want to keep this car, about the car. I want to be able to crank it and hear it over the one day side-pipes but I am not planning any video or anything to flashy.
