do you have the mach 460, or not? Either way it is easy to bypass. I'll check back later but it will be a few hours. I have a '94 gt(just need to drive it out) and I am a big mustang fan. I/we can get you through it.

Why do you want to remove the amp?

It's not a mach 460,i want to remove it,because i plan to buy an infinity reference 7541A amplifier.

I would like to have your opinion on my recent purchase.I bought
2 JBL P8652 and 2 JBL P953,do you think the infinity 7541A would be a good choice? also do you think i need a capacitor? if so which one?(i was looking for power acoustik) i have the stock alternator.
thanks

It looks like a great amp for this car. However, it appears the stock speakers are 6x8" for front and rear locations. Yep, that means an adapter plate might be needed for your 6x9's.

No need for a capacitor here if you use #4 gage wiring kit on this amp. However, if you plan to add a powered subwoofer later, consider dropping to a #2 gage kit.

That amp has a max current draw of ~55A's. If your stock ALT is about 100A's or higher, this should work out fine.

I am not aware of a 6 x 8" to 6 x 9". You could make one out of mdf, but I would probably just go with the 6 x 8's myself. The rear speakers are a PITA to get out. You will need to remove EVERYTHING from the front seats back, as they are top loaded. The rear seat(come out easy) both sides, as well as the c-pillar and the rear deck. When you do get the stock speakers out, do yourself a favor and bottom mount the rear speakers so that you will not have to remove all that again.

If you car doesn't have the mach 460, you should not have an amp in the car. Have you pulled the deck out yet? THere should be two rectangular shaped hrns that are the same size, one grey, one black.

I already have 6x9 in the rear,so it will not be a big job.If it's not an amp,i really don't know what it is!,i will try to pull the deck tomorrow, and take a few pictures(is it possible to post pics on this site? if so,how?

THANKS lewis!

Hey ttocs,

I would like to know ,where did you pass the power cable? did you make a hole in the firewall? or you used a hole that was already there?

ttocs on 04/12/2006 11:37:09
It has been so long since I did it that cannot remember. There should be room on the drivers side where the clutch would go if it was a stick.

Again, I don't think you have an amplified system unless it is the mach. You will need to pull the radio to find out.

bert96 on 04/12/2006 14:38:54

Beside the cable clutch,i will have to make a hole, because there is no room to pass a big cable like that. I took a few pictures today,if i can sent you a couple of pics you'll see that it's an amp.

Nice find there Lewis. Ttocs has often mentioned that harness set, but this post gives a very good "What and How" to do this bypass with ease. I wish he had pictures to show the proper wiring codes for splicing.

I am plannin on flying home for an ex-gfriends wedding(gonna be a strange one), and drivin my '94 momstang gt back the 1700 miles to AZ. The drive S-U-C-K-E-D the first time, I am thinkin it may be a little better this time. I have some ford friends that are handy with a wrench and will help work for a hand shake and the entertainment of laughin at the stories of all the stupid stuff we us to do. I am plannin on advancin the timing, as well as a underdrive pulleys and possably and intake and throdle(sp?) body to help get a little better gas milage for the drive home(at 120 with the cannon ball run theme song blarin). I am also planning on upgrading the cassette/460 to some kinda cd/sirius unit, some kind of speakers and showing the process of bypassing/integrating. I have done it where you bypass the entire system including the sub, but I am going to to try and keep the sub for the little bit that it is worth. I may end up yanking it it in a trade for a 12" ID and 5 channel alpine amp, custom made to mount in an identacle body style mustang by me 7 yrs ago er so for my buddy....... What goes around comes around I guess..

I have recently become active in a mustang forum, and they do not appear to know anything about the bypass on there amazingly. It is really so easy and I was shown it early in my install days over a decade ago(when I had hairSMILE), I thought everyone knew.

I'll start a thread to see what equipment I should get.

I did these modifications(underdrive pulleys, throttle body, plenum, timing pulley...and many more!!! )i really like to work on my stang,it cost an arm and a leg, though :) i did not make a research on corral or stangnet about the bypassing, i thought it was a better idea to try this site first!

Did you take a look at my pics i sent you?
