I recently replaced my factory head unit and installed a Pioneer DEH P2500 (not that great but good enough). My car is a 2002 nissan maxima SE - no bose sound system. The problem I'm experiencing is that the controls on the steering wheel for volume adjust, mode change, track change, and the "trip" button do not work. I know you can get an adapter for the volume, track change, etc., but the "trip" button is my main problem. It changes modes in the little display under my tachometer, such as temp., mpg, distance to empty, etc. I was told that this should work nonetheless, all I have to do is "jump" the proper wire...... I have no clue what to do regarding this "jump" or if there are other solutions to making this button(s) work again. Car is under dealership warranty,(but the radio has been replaced) so i don't know if that helps. Any suggestions and/or comments would be appreciated. Thank you. I would take it to a local reputable/certified installer and at least get a opinion on how to or how much will cost to fix the problem. 2. Check with the dealership, without telling them what you've already have done, to see what you are capable of changing without any warranty problems. Those two options won't cost you a thing and will let you know where you stand. It could be as simple as getting a wiring diagram and tracing the connections, to spending a couple of extra ducks to keep the car's integrity. swez on 04/9/2006 20:05:15 Agreed, let a Pro handle this one. If the "Trip" functioned worked before the new HU was installed, chances are good that this harness function is somehow tied to the OEM HU in some way. One other option here, contact Crutchfield.com and ask them if there is a harness adapter that can be used to get all your steering wheel functions working again, with the new HU. If you buy that adapter from them, you'll get excellent wiring instructions and ftech support from their techs. Are you absolutely sure this car is not equipped with the Bose Premium Audio & Nav package? Good luck and welcome to CK, Swez Nismo878 on 04/9/2006 20:43:46 Well I must say thank you for the very quick response, you guys rock. I will try all of the things suggested throughout the week and keep you updated =P . To answer your question about the Bose Premium Audio and Nav Package - Yes, I am absolutely sure it is not equipped with it. The new HU was installed by me, works perfectly fine, but I might've mistakingly not plugged something in or it simply needs an adapter of some sort, just like you said. Thanks again for the response, much appreciated. ttocs on 04/10/2006 14:24:16 sometimes they link circuits through the radio to prevent them from being replaced. Worst case scenario you will need to wire the factory deck up and hide it in the dash(turned off), or extend the wires and put it in the trunk. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
