would these work good in a 3way component system?? or best used with own crossover and amplifier... am willing to try these out, maybe even incorperate them into my home audio. if the will fit in existing speaker locations.... just thought id throw these up, am within driving distance of this company so maybe i could goto their shop and have a look see. maybe come home with a new sub too LOL.... would like to listen before i buy tho....

that is an impressive MB driver, can i suggest u another very impressive driver which can even work well in lower frequencies and leans more towards being called a mini sub rather than a Midbass...

this i guess will do better in a 3 way system, with an efficient 4" MR driver and a silk dome tweeter.

the ascendant audio 6.5"MB driver u have mentioned would make a better 2 way system.

I would suggest using an electronic crossover rather then passives cause it gives the ease of fine tuning each component to its best..

Agreed! Looking at the frequency plots, this driver has excellent MB/MR characteristics. To simplify a car install, a 2-way approach with a well mated tweeter and crossover, should prove very effective.

The upper crossover limit can range anywhere from 2.5 - 5.0 KHz., depending on the tweeter used. A passive network would be minimal here and so would passive component losses that come with passive networks.

As Vic said, active crossovers/Biamping would be the best way to go, if you have the amplifier circuits for doing so.

If they're impressive, then check them out and see how they are running them. Could be one of those "hidden treasures". Plots and graphs only go so far, but actually auditioning can be more helpful as long as they aren't doing anything out of the ordinary to run them. If they have an actual vehicle with them installed, that would be great.
