I used to be on this site a long long time ago and I just found it again.. I thought it got shut down?? Oh well glad I found it again!

Alright... Im gonna get a loan for about $2000 to get a system and make some mods to my Standard Cab 98' GMC sonoma... Im gonna do a bed cut and all of that so keep that in mind.. I can get a good bedcover for about $400 so I got that covered. Im gonna have the Tech at the stereo shop boot the truck or whatever.. So heres my question... What should I use.. I already bought the Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 so I dont need the front stage.. Im gonna need..:

2 Amplifiers (highs and subs.. Im leaning towards the zapco line.)

2 or 3 subwoofers (brand open to suggestions, but i think im going with the ones here in my town.. Virtual Technology I know how you guys feel about those!)

Head Unit..(leaning towards the Alpine 9815)

So rougly around $1700 to spend for a system.. I want this to be as much as and SQ setup, without losing too much SPL....You know what I mean?

OPEN TO ANY SUGGESTIONS!!

For Sale : Ample 600 Watt RMS amp, Phoenix Gold 250.2, MB Quart Components (DSD216), Virtual Technology 10" Hammer Series subwoofer, Custom S10 enclosure, Alpine Deck (dont know what series.. Very basic deck.. the lower series from last year) MAKE ME AN OFFER ON ANY PRODUCT...

To save you an extra $100 or so you might want to get the Alpine - 9813. Im deciding between that or the 9815 right now. I cannot find any big difference with the 2. The 9815 has the i personalize, but now i read on alpines site that the 9813 is compatible with that too. The 9813 has 3 color display with spectrumanalyzer and the 9815 has 2 i have no idea what that means tho. But that is the only difference i can find between these 2 HU's.

Nice plan so far and if you can fit the VT hammer in your sub application... why not as I have heard you rave about it in private e-mails... assuming you can make it fit and it will handle the power of the amp you choose.

So far, your plan sounds very good... great amp brand, good front stage drivers and well... how fat to go in sub power???

If you elect to sell the VT 10" Hammer, I am sure some S-10 cabbie will want to hear more about your offer... tell it man... sounds like a great sub to me when I reviewed the links you passed on.

I DO want to sell the VT 10" hammer and even possibly the box (just wouldnt want to ship the box as Shipping costs would be high). I have the custom VT box for it that fits into all standard cab S10's or Sonoma's.. If you put at least 100X2 up to it (what i had to it first), it really gets loud and it great sound quality.. The sub can handle about 300 rms and i have the Ample 600 watt RMS hoooked up to it right now... Of course gotta keep the gain and bass real low. I bought it for $130 and the box for $100.. Any offers..??

what is the model number on the ample amp. I just wanted to know if it was 600 rms x 2 channel or by 1 channel.

Walt is working on a sellers link on this forum... but for now, just look about to your friends and such that can use make use and fit the VT into their vehicle. Great sub for a small cab truck right? That feature alone will help sell this system. The only issue is at what price youcan get back from selling same and rolling that into your new purchases.

On a personal note, you mentioned taking out a loan for your new gear right? I hope you can get a low interest loan from your family rather than plopping it all on a credit card or high interest personal load. With todays high interest loans, a $2,000 note can cost you 15-24% annually on the balance. Pretty steep price for a loan and not a good financial management plan.

A family loan with 5-10% interest is much better than any bank will offer on CD's, savings account interest etc. However, if you are trying to develop your own credit... then high interest rates are something you'll have to accept for a time.
