hi, basically i have recently brought A new mutant head unit, in the instructions it says it is compatable with an amp. its got the speaker RCA in and out, but the problem is that it has no remote/p-cont lead coming out of the back, what can i do to wire up my amp to it????? any suggestions or help would be nice many thanks jason Replies (5) Ash on 04/7/2006 17:09:35 Exactly what model # is it. I'm not familiar with the "Mutant" brand as it is located in the UK, but I'm sure you will get some assistance. It is possible that it is missing the remote as a result of a manufacturer defect for I have never seen a HU w/pre-outs that didn't have a remote wire. Plus all of their amps seem to include a remote input, which makes that even weirder. If you give the make and model # , it might can be looked up to see. Where did you get the unit from? I looked up their web site and no info is available on the only one that they advertised. You might be able to go back to the dealer or contact them about the situation. If not, then your next option would be to install a relay/switch for the remote input. UKinstaller on 04/8/2006 10:43:13 just use the accessory wire on the head unit. in the US, it's a red wire. not sure about where you are though. -UK lewis on 04/8/2006 23:27:49 the accessory wire would leave the amps on any time the ignition is turned on even if the radio itself is off... i would take it back to where you bought it and ask whats up UKinstaller on 04/8/2006 23:57:19 who cares?? i never turn my radio off when i'm driving, just down. i don't notice anyone else doing it, either. here in the states, the really crappy head units have a solid blue remote wire in many cases. they're actually labeled "antenna" but they're so cheap they don't have stuff inside to turn the antenna off and on for only when the radio is on. sounds confusing, but seriously man just use the igntion wire. -UK ttocs on 04/9/2006 11:23:06 that battery will not go dead with the car and amps on.
