I know this isnt directly Car Audio, but it is definately a related topic ... I had somebody punch out one of the locks in my 1992 Toyota Camry when they broke into it to steal my car audio equipment. (manual locks). I wondered if this has happened to anybody else, and if so, how much does it cost to get fixed? They busted the lock out totally, and cracked the plastic mold around the door handle. Not sure what the costs are, but if you carry Comprehensive coverage on the car, the insurance company may provide some financial assistance, if you don't have a huge deductable. Obviously, someone knows what you have in there and are just not smart enough to smash a window, gain entry and take what they wish. It might be good to have an alarm installed or at least take other measures to protect the gear and your car. These were probably a few "Crackheads", looking for a quick buck at your expense. Swez Black_Rob on 04/5/2006 17:13:57 Where is a good place to get a car alarm and have it installed. Best Buy, Circuit City, etc? swez on 04/5/2006 17:35:18 Yes, they offer that service or look for a smaller shop that has been in business a few years or more. It may cost a few bucks more, but this is a very labor intensive install. It's not a job for a rookie or most shade tree mechanics. Swez Black_Rob on 04/5/2006 18:07:32 So how much should I be looking at spending. Im not very up to date on car alarms. Basically I just want something to go off if somebody tries to get my stuff. I dont need one that talks to me or tells people to step away from it, lol. Heres an example of one I found.... http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Python-Security-System-Python-460HP-/sem/rpsm/oid/119440/catOid/-13097/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
