Need a new deck

Hi guys, haven't been here in a long time. I have a huge question for ya. Right now I have a 99 Grand Marquis LS with a Pioneer DEH-8400 infinity 600a and 2 15 inch elemental designs in a sealed box. The thing is I'm looking to replace my deck, but I don't no really what's good out there. I don't really like the style of the new pioneers, so I was looking to go with a different brand. I liked some of the features of the pioneer deck like the easy eq, or that I could turn up the level on the 80hz frequency or that I could turn my subs off from the deck. I listen to music like Goo Goo dolls, Fuel, and bands like that to rap music, if that means anything. If the deck doesn't have knobs that would be nice and came with a remote, and of course can play MP3's. I'll prolly buy it off e-bay since I've had good luck, so price isn't the biggest deal. Something around the quality of what I have now. That is a pretty decent deck in it's time. It wasn't a premier, but I think it was the top of the line for the pioneer series. Thanks for the help.

The Premier line of HU's from Pioneer are very nice, as are the Kenwood Excelon and some of the new Alpines. Look at HU's with only the features you need now and possible upgrades later. Yes, a remote is a nice feature, as are multi-band EQ and perhaps AUX inputs for an I-pod or MP3 player later.

Also, if you are running front and rear speakers off the HU amps, look for the highest RMS power ratings available from the HU of choice. If you plan to amp mids and highs, (highly recommended) make sure the HU has 2-3 pairs of RCA outs. (F/R/Sub)

Yeah, I was looking at a premier 960 MP I think. Almost every deck now has knobs and those things can get annoying, bu it doens't look like there is much I can do about it. The 960 MP looks about the same as my 8400, so I'm sure it has all the features I need. I seen it on ebay for a decent price. What do ya think? The highs sounded good enough for me off the hu amp, so I don't think I'm going to change anything there. The subs sound great, it's just the rattling of my car, but hopefully I can do something about that myself when it gets warmer. I may make another post on that later once I figure out where it's coming from.

Right, the more complex HU's have lots of extra features you may not choose to use. (HP/LP filters) It all depends on the unit you buy and how deep you can absorb the user's manual for setups.

Get a remote for sure. It sure beats searching for tiny function buttons in the dark or while driving in heavy traffic.

if you like that style with the tilt out screen i would say the 960 is great if you want something a little simpler the 860mp is a little cheaper but has all the same options (i think)

another option is the 760mp which is their newest model out i know none of the shops around here have it in stock yet but i did find it here http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=16654
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4041_291159491,00.html (this one has the picture)
since this is a new model you probly wont find it much cheaper than that but from what i can tell its well worth it...

Just installed an Premier 860 for one of our readers this week. Nice HU, very good features and lots of extras if needed. Use a conversion harness though. Makes the job much easier and faster.

This HU has a lot of nice features and good EQ. There are HP/LP filters in the menu system and a nice remote comes with it too. The display is nice and very readable. However, if you use the other features like HP/LP filters, read the manual for a while to get the hang of how it's done.

The only drawback I saw, small function buttons and station presets. That's where the remote shines. If you shop it well, can be had for under 200 bones, of the net.

lol 200??!!

i just ordered mine (860mp) two days ago for $373...oh well the insurance company is paying me $520 for it so i still make a profit

i had this exact radio before and loved it (ive been looking for about 2 weeks for a replacement). i ended up getting the same thing because i cant find one with better options on the eq and crossover

im not sure when onlinecarstereo.com added that 760 (maybe i just didnt notice it) or i probly would have looked into that a bit more

I think he bought from Millionbuy.com. It may have been the 480 series he bought. Nice features and well under $200.00 sorry!
