Help please - multi amp installation

I am currently running one Phoenixgold amp octane R801 800 watt x 1 max. I am using a 4 guage power wire right now.

I just got another PG amp R804 4 x 75 rms and one kenwood 2 x 40 rms and one 1.0 farad capacitor.

My first questions is will the 4 guage wire be safe with the extra amps installed or do I need to go to a thicker wire?

As for the capacitor, where should it be connected, ie before the power distribution block or after and how do I tell which connector is positive or negative?

I'm thinking I should put in same size fuse in each of the distribution block connecton to match the total amp fuse used on each amp would this be a correct assumption?

Sorry guys for all the questions, my rear speakers are Alpine SPR 6.5 components with RMS at 50 watts, will the above amp damage my speakers since they are at 75 watts RMS

I will be replacing my sub amp with two Phoenixgold tantrum 1200 watt @ 4 ohms and I will still keep the 4 channel and 2 channel amps, what guage wire should I use without starting a fire?

Any help would be much appreciated

you wont be able to run all that stuff. you will need electrical upgrades like really big alternator and a prollya bigger battery. them to tantrum amps must pull alot of power. as for now you might have a power issue anyways. and prolly your remote wire wont power all three amps, but im not sure. wait for swez or ttocs, or some of the other ppl that actaully know what they are talkin bout. good luck

Awesome questions... I am learning much from this site and am trying to do an install myself. I am definitely not the expert here but from what I understand, you may do well with upping the gauge wire from the batt to 2awg. Use the 4 that you have for interconnections to the amps once you get the power back where you need it. Just be sure to fuse right after the battery and fuse/ distribution block when you drop down to 4awg to distribute to the amps.
Not sure about the cap, whether you can feed all the amps from it directly. I may have read somewhere that you can use a 1Farad per 1000w of Amp? I am sure that I have read to not even buy a cap; to spend the extra money in alternator and battery upgrades –specifically the alt to batt wire and the bat to ground cable.
Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but the sizes of fuse needed for the power wire is a direct function of the wires current handling capacity. Check out this site
http://www.eatel.net/~amptech/elecdisc/caraudio.htm
Since the amps are fused themselves at their correct rating, then the power wire is fused to ensure that the fuse will blow before the wire heats and melts insulation. Example: 2awg max recommended 200amp; 4awg 125a. Look at the specs for all your amps consider their max current draw, add them together and at or just below this is what you would fuse the mainline coming from your batt.
Hope this helps. Like compvr15s said though… swez or ttocs will be the authorities on this though. Read some of their posts -they know their s**t.
