Hey guys, I'm trying to put a stereo in the abovementioned vehicle and I have run into a problem. I get the deck to power on, but I get no sound. I am assuming there is an amp in the vehicle...but I can't seem to turn it on. Usually with Chryslers you can just use the remote turn on wire to turn the factory amp on, and get sound just the same way the factory stereo does. I have had no such luck this time. Has anyone dealt with this issue yet? Oh, and the Metra 80-6502 harness fits the stock plug...but the pins don't quit match. Thanks, Pinch Replies (2) ttocs on 03/26/2006 07:49:39 Dodge factory systems often do not use a remote turn on wire. They hava ground, and a power wire. They use the remote turn on out of the deck to power the amp, as well as turn it off and on. Remote turn ons for most aftermarket decks cannot supply the power needed to power the amps, it would just turn the remote out off. Try hooking the amp-on to the switched on the hrns. UKinstaller on 03/26/2006 15:34:40 ahoy mate, unfortunately, the new charger/magnum/300c/grand cherokee/durango amplified systems are indeed COMMON GROUND!!. not a good thing to have when adding an aftermarket deck. not the worst of all rewires, but indeed a PITA. the factory amp is under the driver side dash. it is HUGE. it has two plugs plugged into it. just catch all the speakers at the amp and run them behind the radio. plenty of room up there. also, you'll need two crossovers fot the front speakers. rears are fine. go to circuit city, if they have any audiobahn crossovers in clearance, you can get them for like $4. finally, you'll need to run an accessory wire for the new head unit to power the unit properly. (shuts on and off with the car and retains memory). have fun, it's not too hard, though. -UK Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
