I bought CDT Eurosport comps and 2 Alumapro Alchemy 12" subs..I have narrowed it down....4 channel: Alpine MRV F 540, Memphis 3004, Eclipse, PPI Xtant, Crossfire Jl 450/4. mono: Alpine new mono, Xtant, Hifonics Brutus 1500, Crossfire, JBL 1200.1, . Which amps?????? Replies (1) Swez on 07/30/2003 08:29:09 "Memphis 3004, Eclipse, PPI, Xtant, Crossfire, Jl 450/4 and Hifonics", are all well repected brands. Any of these would serve you well and more of a price VSperformance and personal choice than anything. Alpine is a very good HU maker... but am not sure how well their amplifier lines stack up against the others mentioned. Consider the power output watts VS the current draw, features that you desire and lastly... price. As for sub amps, HiFonics is a brute and will require a large amount of current to drive your subs to full potential. Crossfire is now under the umbrella of Rockford Fosgate family of products and am sure they make decent products as well. I have no real comment on Xtant products as I have never used them or know of other that have either. The JBL 1200.1 is probably the best "value" (~$300.00) in terms watts per dollar. It draws 114 amperes of current at full power. The biggest drawback on the JBL, it does not have a subsonic filter network. However, there are inexpensive filters that can be purchased to add that function if you choose to use a ported box design. It can handle 1 or 2 ohm loads with ease and seems to manage heat very well at high output levels. It is a bit underrated in power and you can expect more than 1200 RMS into 1 or 2 ohm loads, if your voltage source is 13.5 VDC or higher. Closer to 1300 watts RMS, depending on the input voltage. Hope that helps, more than confuse! Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
