hi experts ok when i was downloading the pdf. file of the jl audio subs i noticed there was a relation between the freq and the power consumption of power from the car ? the link: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/7591.pdf so can anyone explain to me it please??? THINK and why do they measure the voltage with multi meter ?? many thanks Replies (1) swez on 03/3/2006 17:46:43 The voltage output measure by the meter, is the target voltage to shoot for and not cause the amp to clip excessively. Note the "target voltage" recommended, changes with ohmic loads to be used on this amp. That is key to a clean, unclipped signal for JL amplifiers. Frequency and power consumption do go hand-in-hand in audio amplifiers. It takes more power to produce a low frequency tone (40 Hz.) at say 100dB then it does for an amp to give the same dB #, but at higher frequencies. (200 Hz.) A multimeter (AC Voltmeter measures the AC signal voltage from the output section of the amp. Since most folks don't have an Oscilloscope lying around, (most accurate way to measure AC signals) The AC voltmeter will do fine for most installs.
