what is dyno-mat, what does it do, is it worth its high cost, ect. .......tell me everything you know Replies (2) compvr15s on 02/20/2006 16:08:39 dynomat is just a sound deadening material, used for just about anything that relates to unwanted noise, can be applied the the hood of you car, to quiet motor noises, apllied to the floor of your vehicle, under the carpet if you have loud aftermarket exhaust and it is pretty noticable from inside the car... for stereo uses: many people line the inside of there trunks with this type of material to deaden all of the loud rattle and squeeks, also this will help keep your music inside the car, results in an extra db or two for the listener, as for the price of it, to gain a few dbs in a stereo you basically need to double your output, an extra amp and extra sub could cost anywhere from 300-1500. so if your looking at it that way i would say it is worth it.... dont really think i would pay retail price for dynomat tho, check ebay, can get some pretty good deals, also do a google search on edead, and brownbread.... basically the same thing just at lest cost and i think a lil easier to work with.....this materiall can also be used on your doors, will give best results from component or coaxial speakers..... so ya know, if you can find a good deal on this stuff i would recommend it if you are getting alot of rattles out of your vehicle. but if you plan on going to a shop and having your trunk lined, expect to shovel out a pretty penny... just be aware there are many different brands of this, different thinknesses and styles.... if you plan on doing yourself make sure to properly clean the area with rubbing alcohol and papertowles... usally need a roller to get into the bends and other areas, some require heat from a hair dryer or other source to make the material's adhesive bond a lil better...good luck, others here have more experience wait for them as well before doing anything, they may be able to give you some other brands to save you some major cash ttocs on 02/20/2006 17:19:22 I have used dynamat for many years while installing full-time and like it. When I got out of college and the business, I put brown bread in my truck as I didn't have the discount anymore and would not pay retail for dynamat. The brown bread has lasted 2 years in my truck with no problems at all. If it can hold up to a summer in phoenix, it will hold up anywhere. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
