I have a 2003 Nissan Sentra. I bought a kit to install the KD-AVX1 from Circuit City. The opening is too small to fit the chassis through to attach the faceplate. I cut it with a dremel to get it in so I could listen to it. Bought a new kit from Crutchfield so that I could make it look more professional. That opening is a touch bigger, but still 1/4" on each side to small and about 1/8" to small top to bottom. I've never encountered this type of problem before where Crutchfield says the radio is a single DIN but doesn't fit the aftermarket kit. Spent 1 1/4 hour on the phone with their technical service and they confirmed what I was telling them, it won't fit without cutting. Any ideas on how to fabricate the kit to fit the radio without destroying a second kit? Thanks. It almost sounds like you need to remove the trim ring that goes around the deck? dluszcz on 02/16/2006 09:20:32 I have removed the trim ring that is used for installation with the provided sleeve for the radio. The unit is ISO mounted and directly attached to the screws used from the factory unit. It is centered well, but the opening on all the aftermarket kits are not wide and tall enough to allow the chassis of the unit to go through the kit so that the faceplate can be attached. This one even caught Crutchfield off guard. It is possible that it could be just Nissans that are affected. I had a Panasonic CQ-8400U installed in the Sentra before the internal amp when down the tubes and I couldn't open the faceplate to put a CD in. That should have been my first clue to get another kit. I have a Panasonic CQ-9301U in my 04 Xterra and that opening was perfect. But, if the radio had another 1/16" and it wouldn't be able to open at all to put in a CD. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
