O im getting ready to finally install my system. My system includes a Pioneer 8600mp, JL Audio 300/4, XR650csi, VR690cxi, !000/1, 13w7. Now my question is since im doing all new wiring I wouldnt want to install the headunit into the factory harness would I? So every wire coming off of the headunit would essentially go to the new speaker wire wouldn't it. This is my first system installation were all the wires are actually getting replaced. I do know that if i didnt have to change the wires all i would have to do is solder the wires to the aftermarket harness and plug it in. Anyway and help would be greatly appreciated.

very nice setup you have going, since you are using an aftermarket amp to run your speakers(300/4) you will actaully only have about 4-5 wires hooked upto the head unit if you want, but of course connecting them all would not be a bad idea, if you decide to get rid of that amp, or sell the vehicle you can always use the pioneer to run the factory speakers if you decide to take the jl speakers out.... very good choice with the wiring harness always use those when possible, makes everything nice and neat.... i would suggest that you ground your 8600mp to the chassis instead up using the stock ground wire, can cause troubles some times with big systems....the biggest task i see on your install is going to be removing all the intereior to run new speaker wires to the 300/4 and the power wires as well as the rca cables. word of advice, run power cable down left or right side, and run your rca cables down the other side, this can cause unwanted noise later on that is a real pain in the butt....

so this will be pretty simple
1. unplug neg battery terminal
2. remove interior of the car, and remove old speakers and head unit
3. run new wires for speakers, rca cables/remote wire, and power cable
4. install head unit(remote wire blue/white stripe) speakers
5. make sure all wires are solderied good with tape or shrink tube
6. install amps, make sure to use very good grounds, bare metal surface that has all paint sanded off...
7. wire all speakers and sub to amp
8. set amps gain levels and remember to reconnect battery. sit back and enjoy your new system

just wanted to point things out clearly, you seem like you know what you are doing, dont want you to think i was doubting your abilities, just figured if you might have any further questions i could clear some of them up... good luck, any other questions we here at CK would be glad to help ya out/

Thanks for the very informative reply. You did clear up a couple of the questions that i had. But i do have another one. Do you think that with the power this will be making i'll be fine with just an optima yellow top and the stock alternator. This is the wiring gear i have http://www.stingerelectronics.com/web/prods/wiring_kits.asp#kit SWCKH42 mines the SWCKH44 which is the same thing but different numbers cause ive had this stuff for a while.

ur gonna be drawing a big amount of power here, im not sure if your alt will be able to keep up with it or not but i would try the big 3 upgrade first

1) Battery negative to chassis
2) Alternator to battery positive
3) Chassis to engine

use 4 awg wire here, if you have slight dimming of head lights this should fix that, but if you are having massive power draws you will want to get a high output alternator for your vehicle, usually can get them 300-400 dollars. but this will gurentee that you will be getting the best out of your equipment and everything is running safe....4awg wiring will be fine for the two, you will need a distribution block here and probably a 4awg wire for 1000/1 and 8awg should be fine for the 300/1. anything else?
