doesn't matter what kind of cd player it is. it could be a couple of different things.

1) with that old of a truck, it's a possibily it's a common ground sound system, meaning every speaker is grounded to the chassis instead of at the radio. i doubt it though, because i don't think i've never seen a common ground GM sound system.

2) did you use a wiring harness?? if so, are all of your colors matching?? if you didn't use a wiring harness, it could be a wiring problem. for the truck, the factory harness with be three skinny, large, rectangular plugs.

3) make sure you have at least one speaker hooked up properly. look for a light green and a dark green wire. these are the wires for the front right speaker.

connect the following wires: yellow (from cd player) to orange (probably at cigarette lighter)

red (from cd player) to yellow (factory wires)

black (from cd player) to black (factory wires)

grey (from cd player) to Light Green (factory wires)

gray / black stripe (cd player) to Dark Green (factory wires).

this would leave you with only power and one speaker hooked up. if it puts out sound, then you have a wiring problem, so check your wires. if it doesn't, you either have a bad cd player or blown or no speakers.

try that out. should give you some sort of clue as to what's going on.

a truck that old probably only came with a single speaker. how did you insulate your splices? On alot of decks if the speaker wires ground out, the deck goes into protect mode and shuts the amp off.

there are some decks that require the reset button be pressed(normally behind the face) before it will work. These were in older decks and not common on newer ones. With out knowing what your are trying to put in, and what was in there before you started, we cannot do much more then give you ideas where to look.
