hi there everyone need some help in connetiong my capacitor , it's 2.0 farad i got 2 alpine amps one is: 2ch 757 , and 5ch mrv-f357, i'm willing to connect only the 2ch amp , i got a the main power is ga#4 and then the a spliter fuse connection after the spliter ga#8 is used for the amps, so what's the best or proper connetion for the 2ch amp note: there's a small resistor what's the use of it many many thanks pro's (GRIN) Replies (8) compvr15s on 02/7/2006 18:46:27 http://www.caraudiohelp.com/car_audio_capacitor_installation/car_audio_capacitor_installation.htm check this site for charging ur cap! compvr15s on 02/7/2006 18:48:21 oh and for wiring the amps, you can choose to either wire both amps to the cap or just one, to do both you use your splitter after the cap, if you want to cap just the one amp, you will want to use the splitter before the cap, then just wire the other amp straight to the splitter. good luck only_tuning on 02/8/2006 04:55:49 ok , but there's something else , what's the use of the resistor ??? swez on 02/8/2006 11:35:05 The resistor acts like a load to help charge the Cap. Some use an automotive bulb as a resistor as well. Swez only_tuning on 02/9/2006 07:34:55 ok , so it's used only to charge the cap, that's it nothing else , after it's charged there's no need to use the resistor right ! sorry im to slow , but i just like to understand what's the use if everything and why many thanks MrBrownstone on 02/9/2006 10:47:49 you'll probably want the resistor around when you rid yourself of the capacitor. only_tuning on 02/10/2006 06:55:26 hi it worked , but when using the resistor it's kind of slow when it's charging , what's the reason for that ? many thanks expert installers ttocs on 02/10/2006 09:52:01 to keep it from exploding.......... Caps can explode and I know from experience that even small ones will pop loud enough to scare ya. We had a guy pop a small cap in class once, it lodged the metal cap in the drop in ceiling.
