Hey hows it going? I was just wondering if you think this is a decend head unit from Alpine. It's a CDA-9813, I know its a little bit older but I was wondering where is sits in Alpine's lineup (mid, higher end etc) Thanks, Jay Replies (6) MrBrownstone on 02/6/2006 12:30:52 When it comes to head units, 99% of them sound the same. they use the same parts underneath, the main differences are the features that are added on--even other manufacturers. ex: Preout voltage: 2V, 4V, etc..... Equalizer bands: 3, 5, 11 Preouts: 2, 4, 4+ subwoofer Crossovers: none, 4 way, HP/LP, Subwoofer and so on. If it's 4v, and from Alpine, it's a great player. The lower voltage units aren't really any different, they just possess fewer features. Tell us a little more about the features. Keep in mind, all Alpine HUs are going to sound exactly the same...just mainly preout voltage and special features that will set them apart. swez on 02/6/2006 14:35:26 That was a pretty popular model a few years back. If it has the features you need and the price is right. As I recall, this have the V-Drive power amp system too. That's the HO amps that deliver 26-27 Watt (Rms), built in EQ, crossovers, 3 pr. RCA outs @ 4 volts etc. http://www.millionbuy.com/apncda9813rb.html Swez LC1 on 02/6/2006 17:11:00 Do you think $250 CDN would be worth it? I'm going to give my buddy $150 cash plus my old Kenwood KDC-2019 HU. He is selling his car and he wants to put a cheaper HU in there and make a buck or two for this Alpine. So really I'd only be spending $150 cause my car came with the Kenwood. ttocs on 02/6/2006 22:50:11 http://cgi.ebay.com/Alpine-CDA-9813-AM-FM-CD-MP3-WMA-V-Drive-Head-Unit_W0QQitemZ5863191406QQcategoryZ39750QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem LC1 on 02/8/2006 00:07:45 I ending up buying this unit, for a little less then he wanted too. All I can say is WOW! I'm not even using an amp for my front JL coaxials just HU power and a JBL for my 12" Type R and its more then enough until I get my new car. It's nice having the built in crossovers, and sub control as well. Handy for songs that vary in bass. This is my first Alpine HU and I'm really impressed. If anybody is looking at lower end to mid range head units I definatly suggest spending a little more on a unit such as this. Jay Victor on 02/8/2006 00:34:05 Definitely Alpine sure has some great HU's on the market, I would say its almost impossible to go wrong by picking an Alpine Product. They have earned this respect from everyone in the Car Audio world with their state of art products. for that matter, even Clarion, Eclipse, Kenwood, Nakamichi, Pioneer Premier,Blaupunkt and a few others, make some of the best HU's in the market, some even better than Alpine, But for Price/ Performance ratio alpine is just perfect.
