hey guys when taxes come back i think im gonna do a lil upgrade for the ole lady.... 2002 olds intrigue, dont want to lose the whole trunk but size back there is not an issue.... was wondering what you guys would suggest, dont want to spend more than 225 on sub and wiring kit? will be using stock head unit. have a spair kicker kx600.1 amp laying around so 600 watts rms @2omhs is what will be powering the sub.... am pretty sure i can get some good boom here while still staying within budget... will be gettin a wiring kit from knukonceptz 4awg. another question is what LOC should i use? or is there any other option here while still keeping the factory unit.... enclosure wont be a big issue, plan on building my own dont know about ported or sealed yet, trying to get some input., just curious on what brand to go with... and trying to decide between single 12-15 or maybe dual 10s.... she listens to some country and radio hits but if im in the car i run the radio and 90% of the time its hip hop/rap.... looking for better SQ than my current compVRs.... still want to go low tho... have been checking into alpine typeR's, 10-12 both have 500 watt rms rating and really sound good... how bout http://www.edesignaudio.com/product.php?cid=1&pid=19&cur=USD any experience with these subs here, less rms than typeR but still have 15 mm xmax. http://www.ascendantaudio.com/arsenal12specs.html this carries just over 20mm xmax and runs about 160, very plain looking but seems to be a lil beast hidden inside... and this company is located only a few hrs away from me.... any other brands would be greatly appreciated, not scared to try a different brand of woofer, as long as the sub seems to be solid. dont want to get burned so i am looking for some great help here. thanx fellas. still have a couple of weeks before taxes are back so we have plenty of time to figure this out... thanx alot guys. Victor on 02/6/2006 18:52:02 The specs on that ascendant audio sub are pretty good, Looks like they have managed to build a very neat SQL sub for a cheap price. I would not mind trying that one in my car.. compvr15s on 02/6/2006 18:55:58 vic, what type of enclosure would you recommend i use??? this is not just for me lol, its my girlfriends car, but there is no reason for it not to be setup as loud as possible, she can always adjust the bass down when she does not want it. Victor on 02/7/2006 16:25:27 Would suggest go ported if u want it loud., 2.0cuft tuned at 35Hz. Should give you something around 120db@35Hz@500wrms/1mt + cabin gain ,+ sound damping + bass boost can give u a decent count but the main thing about this sub is that its gonna be a clean sounding one.. Victor... P.s - let me know how well it performs, cause i am getting pretty bent on trying this one out.. P.s.s - Dont forget to switch on the ssf @ 34Hz on the sub-amp.. P.s.s.s - Personally i would like to use a 1.25 cuft sealed with this sub, cause i am sure that combo will yeild very good transient response. Tight, clean, crisp, and Flat response., I would not mind trading a few db's for better sound quality. compvr15s on 02/7/2006 19:43:46 great, thanx, i think i will stick with the sealed idea, just for simplicity and easy of building, garage space is taken right now so ill be building enclosure outside, not too fun in 30-50 degree weather.... how bout the LOC here, any brand better than others, i see some that say they are rated for like 80watts per channel, what is that all about, im gonna be runnin 350-600 watts, just want to make sure i get the right one the first time, dont want to be taking apart her car numerous times.... Victor on 02/7/2006 20:02:32 dunno much about loc brands, but u may wanna read this before u buy one.. http://www.bcae1.com/loc.htm hope it helps.. Victor..
