i am looking for a 4-channel amp to run 2 pairs of 5 1/4 seperates, one 2-way and the other 2-way or 3-way. What recommendations does anyone have on getting best sound quality. also looking for a mono to run two 12" subs with sound quality being the only concern. no budget, just want the best sound quality. it's a BMW X5 if it makes a difference. thanks. However your SQ will also depend on what subs and components you will use and the enclosure you place those subs in. Swez on 07/29/2003 08:10:57 Agreed, good equipment is a good investments. However, the speakers are where you will want to focus most on. This is the soul of the system in any install. The amps mentioned are all excellent choices and generally not cheap... but if you have the budget... go with any of these mentioned of have a look at DSL amps too. Very nice amps. Back to speakers a moment, consider how much power you will be using in your install... 50-75 watts RMS/ch in a 4 channel amp is plenty. Comps in front and coaxials in rear are a very good choice for best voicing and stage presents in this car. Some names to consider... CDT, Focal, Infinity Kappa/Perfect, Adire Koda's, Eclipse, MB Quartz, PPI or Polk Audio. As for the rear channels, use what fits in 2 or 3 way Coaxials as these are mostly rear fills. Some like only midbass drivers in rear... others (like me) prefer full range speakers in rear stage. As for subs... depends on how much Bass power you want here. Just remember that larger amps will take more power to run and can tax your electrical system pretty hard. If you want a balanced system and high SQ, sub power of ~300 - 500 watts RMS are a good goal. A single 12" in the right enclosure will give you good bass match. Subs like Adire Shiva, Infinity Kappa Perfects, JL Audio and many others, make some great SQ/SPL subs . If price is not an issue and you want it loud but clean, JL is a very good choice.. W7 series is a very good choice, as are the 6Wv2 series. You'll need to know how much ALT output your car has and what CCA battery size is in there now. Once you have those items identified and figure out how much power your amps will draw... then we can proceed with the products list and parts you'll need for this install.
