Just wondering if anyone knows which of these 2 brands of speaker is better. MB Quart QM218.61Q 6.5 inch component or the Phoenixgold TI6 Comp elite? Also, I am planning to buy some high end component speakers but I don't know how I should go about comparing different brands. Any suggestions would be appreciated. (in your car) And that is the catch... a system may sound great in a demo wall... but then you buy them and install them and go.... what the heck! This is not what I heard on the demo wall. Why? The acoustics of your vehicle are a lot different than a typical demo wall. So, when listening to a demo wall, it is good to note which speakers sound most to your liking, but they may have a totally different sound in the vehicle. Doesn't that want to make you bite your finger nails down to the nubs? Not a bleak as it may sound... but you have to go one what you know about the speakers you liked best. If you have some EQ to help out, all the better. Sorry I did not answer your question in a yes or no, good or bad form... just cannot as it's not that simple. But quality Comps, no matter the brand are superior to Stock speakers. The install makes all the difference. Swez ttocs on 07/29/2003 11:32:07 I am not big on quart... They made a big name for themselves in the competition SQ arena, as they sound awsome at low to mid levels. But when you crank them, you loose alot of midbass and do not get all that great of sound. I would say go with PG... Swez on 07/29/2003 21:11:22 Here's one for you to chew on as well.... CDT, CL-61a's The price is remarkable, performance is excellent and you can add to this system if you wish via an ambient tweeter add on. GOTO: http://www.thezeb.com/caraudio/CDT_Audio_Components.html A few guys have already picked up on this deal and were very pleased with the sound of same. I like the soft dome tweeter as it is more natural and less harsh than metal cone/dome tweeters. The crossover is very well designed as well. A look at the specs from the CDT website will tell more about the features in this Comp set. Here's a link to Mfg's site: http://www.cdtaudio.com/classic2000MidDriv.htm Swez ttocs on 07/29/2003 22:40:00 I was eyeing those for a long time. But I was not big on the red baskets. I went with diamond audio which is also a very good brand. Their middle of the road is better then alot of brands best.. dflock on 07/30/2003 08:49:21 I've just gotten a pair of those, CL-61a. You just can't beat them for the price. They mount in most locations and have plenty of power for your average system. Even in my poor speaker location they sound good. Obviously you do get what you pay for, so they aren't in the same leaque as MB Quart Q Series or top of the line Focals. But I would suggest them for anyone looking for a deal.
